first ultrasound and cramping
posted 27th Mar '08
hey everyone!I just found out that I am pregnant on monday. I went to the OBGYN yesterday who did a urinalysis and ultrasound. He truly didn't give me very much information and now I'm a little worried. According to the due date calculators, I am 6 weeks along. When the OBGYN did the ultrasound, he said he couldn't tell and pointed out the gestational sac. Everytime I look at the ultrasound picture I feel like something is missing, all I see is a black blob!
So my question is, did anyone think their first ultrasound picture looked strange?
And my other question is, did you have cramping? I am mildly cramping, nothing like a period, with no blood. Is everything normal or am I just being a hypochondriac??
Thanks guys!

You're being a worry-wort.... but it comes with the territory and only gets worse. At 6 weeks, a blob is a pretty good way to describe what you should be seeing on the US. Cramping is normal, as long as it is very mild and with no bleeding at all.
Congrats on the pregnancy!

yeah. cramping is normal. The frist time i felt it i was sure i was miscarrying or that i had an ectopic... lol no it's normal. i'm still cramping i hate it it's so uncomfortable!

i had some spotting and a little bit of weird cramping that wasnt very strong. i figure now that it must've been gas or just things stretching and making room for baby!
check out my u/s pics. (on my profile) it's not really recognizable as a baby, either.
you 2 will be fine!!!

I'm guessing you had a vaginal ultra sound, so that's probably why you have some cramping...
my first ultrasound was in my 13th week so it was done on my belly, and also by that time I could see my baby, so I'm not much help there lol
but as long as you're not bleeding you should be fine,
I've even heard that some light spotting is normal after a vaginal u/s..

my first ultrasound pic was at 7 weeks and 3 days and he just looked like a little black macaroni. For the longest time I felt like it almost wasnt real, because there was no signs of him being there, besides my pregnant appetite. Dont worry, its normal to be worried! I'm sure everything will be just fine!

Everything is fine sweetie...quit worrying. You baby only looks like a tee tiny piece of rice inside that big sacat 6 weeks. Also the cramping is normal, as long as you aren't bleeding, it's fine. Early pregnancy symptoms often mimic those of a period. Good luck!

I had my first u/s with my daughter at 4 weeks and could also only see the sac, but no baby. Also, some light (even not so light) cramping is normal. Just watch out for blood or if the cramping gets worse.
I know it's hard not to worry, but the symptoms you have now are normal, so keep your chin up!

they heard peanut's heartbeat at 6.5 weeks, but she seemed really surprized... give it time, you'll hear it!

most doctors won't check for a heart beat till 10 weeks, and cramping is tottally fine, i felt like my ovary was on fire! haha, you have to remember everything in your body is moving and being squished to make room for you miracle, congrats on the pregnancy and just keep your head up, just wait till you start puking and get that sciatic nerve pain,m you will think cramping was a blessing, good luck sweetheart and congrats

TOTALLY NORMAL!!!! SO CONGRATS ON UR PREGNANCY!!!!!!!!
the cramping is normal as long as there's no blood and as long as its not excessive pain on ur side.... My OB told me that the cramping is due to the stretching, the uterus accomodating, the placenta accomodating, and simply because everything is being squished lol.
Congrats again and ejoy it!!
