Finding out the sex of your baby.....

posted 25th Mar
I would just like to know if I'm the only person in the world who does not want to know the sex of my baby? I've read so many different forums and it seems everyone, but me, wants to know! So my question is this.....did you, or did you not find out, why?

I had to know!! the suspense was killing me and I hate surprises, I like being able to prepare and have a name picked out and all. it's easier for me.

we chose to find out... mainly because we couldn't wait to find out.   plus if you think about it, all the stuff you buy and get gifted before the baby gets here is going to be neutral colors; boring and for either sex.

I also like to be prepared. Our nursery is not gender specific, and we have names picked out for both. I just think it will be the ultimate suprise after all the anticipation!

I knew before I was even told.. but I just thinking knowing what you are having better prepares you for what lies ahead.. and also for bringing home the baby and supplying it with a sufficient amount of items

I needed to know.. Personal reasons to reasure my mind! Plus Nana and everyone else wouldnt give me a choice had I not wanted to know.. and it makes it soooo much easyer to buy things earlyer, even know there could still be a mix up.. (It happends) I think with the next one we will probably want to know then too... but if we go past 2 it wont matter.. lol

Edit to say: Plus I think it helps in the bonding to know weather its a boy or girl.. You can call it by his or her name if you all ready have one..and talk to your little girl or boy.. JMO

We waited to find out when we had my daughter, and dont intend to peek on this one either!!   We really loved the surprise, it is different than most everyone else and it is a wonderful suspense about the labor and birth! It was a perfect moment after all the hard work of labor to have my husband lay heron my chest, he was the first one to peek and said ITS A GIR!!!   It was the best moment of my life, made so much more special after all that waiting. It was so much fun to call the family and tell them "ITS A GIRL!!!!" I think its so boring to peek, I know all these ladies who have their babies and its no big deal since you've known the sex, and the name, and the estimated ultrasound size and in lots of cases, the date of planned induction or c-section for MONTHS already! lol I think its like peeking on your Christmas presents early... what fun is it to open them when you already know what you're getting???   Just my opinion though! But no, you're not alone! We are out there. lol

I know in some parts of Canada they won't tell you the sex. I grew up in BC and lived there until 1998 and if preggies wanted to know the sex before the birth they had to drive over to Alberta for an ultrasound! I think my mom's dr. said it was because there is a large East Indian population in BC and they were seeing a large instance of selective abortions by that and other ethnic groups.... where they would wait and get an ultrasound and then abort and try again if it was a girl!    So maybe the ultrasound guy wasnt allowed to tell you! I dont know if the laws have changed since then though, they very well may have.

I found out
Tom (Boyfriend) didn't want to find out... But I couldn't wait.
So we made a deal... We could find out but no one else in the family is to know what were having... So it's a suprise for everyone else... Just not us
