Yeah I went to a prenatal class with my friend who's due next month & the nurse told us not to leave any boxes or anything out for the trash men & not to put anything up like a stork sign saying its a boy or a girl because there are women out there who will kidnap! its scary! Our hospital doesnt even put the baby's name on their little crib thing anymore either. their security is insane for the maternity ward. Which is great because it can help!

DANG.. the birthing center that i am going to doesnt have a nursery, they bring baby straight to you and baby stays with you till you leave!!!

Yeah my birthing center is the same. They have a nursery but thats only for right after the baby is born when they take them away to get all checked out etc, then they're right back in the room with you. But my birthing center dont want any names on the little cribs even in your room. The blinds in the nursery remain closed at all times. They warn the patients to only talk to Hospital staff that have red badges & if they dont have a red badge then you are to alert the staff. they have an automatic shut down of all elevators & floors as well if there is a baby snatcher on the loose! They have all kinds of procedures for that kind of thing which totally puts my mind to rest.

That's crazy. Thankfullly I only have one picture up right now. I tried to figure out how to put more up...and I have to direct link it to my photobucket. I'm lazy.   They can't get much from me right now. I've heard about alot of kidnapping too...it's sick.

haha there has never been a baby snatching incident at my hospital but its joined with other hospitals in the country so usually if one thing happens at one of the other hospitals, they bring in security & procedures for every hospital. Really its just a security thing because you hear of it happening more often these days.

Where I'm at don't use nurseries anymore. The baby is with the Mother 100% of the time. The baby never leaves my sight. I like it that way much better.  

i know what you mean. i used to run a group on msn for teen mother for about 5 years. one of the girls on there i liked alot and even sent her one of my pregnancy books when i lost my first baby. it turned out that the girl i had helping me manage the group found her on another web site with totally diffrent dates. i confronted the girl and she said she just made a mistake in her dates at first ok resonable i think, but then she told me it was a girl and then it was a boy and supposaby gave birth on the actual due date, i think not!

i had ppl use pixtures of my son on another site, it pissed me off so bad! but yea the best bet if your going to put up pictures is to mark them, its sad that you cant share pictures and stuff without ppl stealing them

The hospital that I am using puts an ankle bracelet on the baby that only the parents and the doctor can remove. It does not have the name on it but it has the i.d. number and the doctor puts it on after the birth before the mother leaves the delivery room. It has an alarm on it that goes off if it leaves a certain area. I thought that it was a little odd but then I noticed that several hospitals do it and it has always worked!

oooooh yeah!! that was the other thing that the nurse told us!!! thats actually the thing that triggers the lock down of the hospital at mine!!! She said you no longer can even take your baby on a walk around the corridors now because it'll set off the alarm!

They told me pretty much the same thing. They will let you into the waiting room area without the ankle bracelet on but that is as far as you can go. I do not mind if it keeps my baby safe!
