re: Update we found out the sex today!!!!!!!!!

posted 22nd Mar
If the heart rate was 132 I'm betting on a boy   They usually have HRs in the 130s-140s and the girl are usually a bit faster, high 140s to 160s!   Definitely not always accurate, but its a good way to make a guess. We didnt find out the sexwith my daughter, but because her HR was always in the higher range the whole pregnancy, my midwife always told us to stock up on some pink stuff... and she was right!   Obviously its just a generalization though. What are you hoping for??

We did talk about that, but at this point we don't think it's worth it just to find out the sex. It's obvious that the baby want's us to be surprised if it's a boy or a girl so we will give the baby that.

The babies HR has been across the board from mid to high150's to the low 130's, so who knows.

Yep. That was my biggest fear. I would buy all of these cute little dresses and then give birth and them say, its a boy! My poor little boy would then be stuck with a pink outfit for the ride home or something. lol.

I could see that happening to us as well.

Thats a fun thing to play with but my little girls heart rate is 139 everytime unless she is acting up kicking the doppler, like she tends to do and find amusing. lol.

haha thats cute! Its like they are in there with their own little attitudes already. I love it. This morning I was laying down with my usual breakfast plate on mybelly and everytime I would stab my fork on my plate to get something it would push the plate down so she would kick it back and about knocked eggs all over me.

Yeah   I actually liked not knowing, and one of the main reasons was it stopped us from impulse buying stuff for months before the birth! We just got basic stuff in advance, like a carseat and bassinett, in neutral colors so we can reuse them next time, and I bought two outfits for going home in, a girl and a boy set. I used the girl one and gave the other one away as a shower gift to a friend who was having a boy! Then we had a baby shower a week later and everybody knew what color to buy and what size we needed! Then after that, we went and got the rest of what we needed. It worked out really well actually. Seriously, what do you really need the first week besides some onesies, diapers and a couple blankets??

We might actaully find out after all. We found out yesterday at our 33 week apt that because of a past unrelated surgury, she wants us to have one more u/s done in May to just check and confirm that everything is still going well with the baby.

I was almost right there with you. We didn't find out until 27 weeks. My little girl likes having her legs crossed! I did make a pack with my hubby that if we still didn't know after the 27 week u/s then I was just going to let her be a surprise!

That is what we said as well after the second u/s, because we figured that would be it for them. We still have a couple weeks to decide, but it is going to be a really hard temptation not to find out.

OH I totally understand... I mean as much as I threatened to just let it be a surprise, I really couldn't wait to find out. In fact thats why we paid to go have a 3D/4D u/s done... the doctor said we would be able to see the 'sex' easier that way. The place we went to actually guarantees that if they can't discover the sex they would let you come back for another u/s. Lucky for us she was cooperating in the first moments he started the u/s. And I'll have to admit as soon as I found out- I couldn't wait to buy official "girl" stuff! Good luck!
