They should have kept you and checked you. My hospital luckily is one that they would prefer you to come in if you think you are in labor or are having regular contractions...even if they aren't painful. They say its better to be safe. I'm sorry that you had to be there for so long for nothing. Is your numbness and blurry vision gone???

I would have had all my babies at home with that advice! I never had any painful contractions... first baby... labor was 3.5 hours and I was joking with dr's the whole time...contractions never hurt at all... 2nd labor.. twins.. induced 3.5 weeks early by breaking water... labor was a total of 8 hours and no pain... baby almost born in toilet because I was still walking around and went potty and wasn't in pain but baby started coming and I couldn't stand up... took 2 nurses and husband to get me back to bed. third labor... wasn't in labor, midwife said let's have a baby.. I said sure... she broke water.. 5 mins before birth she checked me and said I was at 7cm... and teased me about really tiny contractions...I told her don't leave, she didn't listen... as soon as she closed door I told nurse I had to push... nurse started laughing at me and lifted the sheet and dd was out to her nose!!!! From the time I got to the hospital to birth was 3 hours... no pain.

I think I would go in when you think it's time... the worst they can do is send you home... but then... they could keep you... worth the gamble!!
