so what do you think a logical solution would be?..i dont think everyone will always not respond to OP's like this one... and even beyond this OP... the ten posters that come in with the primary objective to reek havioc... ifeel badlyfor the S/L moms who are being subjected.

I'm trying to look at this on a larger scale... i dont want to see it be completely self moderated like myspace... where comments have to be approved..everything is subject to OPs approval... i just cant wrap my head around a happy medium....

I thought that multiple accounts from the same I.P. address were banned...if this is so, how can 1 person still have several different accounts? Why is it that an on-site mod couldn't block the IP address of someone who makes an account, and then 2 seconds later starts a drama thread as their very first post? I realize only Mara and Nick have rights to that function now, but couldn't a mod do it as well??

yeah, i've been trying to deal w/ all this for the past couple of days when i get the free time. unfortunately, it's very easy for people (at this point) to just go in and make a new account.

i've actually banned two of the accounts you linked me to already. thanks for the heads up though. it's much appreciated.

A mod can't do that. They only could announce, sticky something, move a thread, edit a post.. some other stuff, but they can't ban people.

I don't have a solution for it. What's Mara supposed to do about it? Have it where she has to approve people before making an account? That would be time consuming, and who knows what will get approved.

Mods will just move the thread to TDC and possibly lock it, but they can't stop that account from making multiple threads about it.

Maybe I'm a trusting soul, but I think most (if not all) of the prior mods could be trusted to handle that job responsibly. It would be nice if there was someone "in charge" on here 24/7 to deal with the douchebags. But then, if the ultimate goal of BG is for us to be a self moderating forum, then that defeats the purpose. Just some thoughts. Now I'm off to watch Lost! 'Night ladies!

I do trust the old mods, I love them. I'm just saying that these stupid posts that have been going on lately are moved pretty quickly, too.
