Water Birth :(

So I get a letter today from my hospital informing me that they will no longer be offering water births. I'm so bummed! I had my first son as a water birth and I loved it, I was totally prepared to do it again.
Luckily I had an OB appointment today anyway, so I asked my midwife about it. She told me that Everyone on staff was pretty upset about the decision, but although they haven't had a single incident, nationaly there have been complications associated with it. But they'll still let me labor in the tub and when it comes time to push I can choose to just stand up and push the baby out and then sit back down in the tub. Its just that the baby can no longer come out under water. Still this sucks. I'm thinking I'll just stay home and sit in my tub when the time comes. ;)

Oh man that sucks!!!   Is there a birthing center close by you could deliver at? I had a wonderful water birth with my daughter. I'd be bummed too. Oh well, I guess it wouldnt be so horrible if you labored in the tub to climb out once you were pushing and deliver on the bed, or a birthing stool or something. Still. That is dumb.

Yes totally dumb. There is another hospital about 45 minutes away that still offers water birth. However my DH works 45 min in the other direction and should he be at work when this little one decides to come it really isn't an option. I had a fairly quick labor with my first (7 hrs from water breaking to delivery) and we still have to drive 20 minutes to drop our son off with my parents before heading to the hospital. With my luck I'll be having this kid in the car anyway... lol

LOL! If I had a decent jacuzzi tub at my house, I'd totally do it at home with the next baby. Hopefully it goes perfectly for you though, water birth or not.  

That sucks! I planned a water birth with my son but had to be induced due to low amniotic fluid and they wouldn't let me have one. I labored in the tub though! Good luck!
