I posted this in another forum but hey I figured I'd post it twice to get maximum feed back
Ugh!! I just can't seem to find any great cheap do it yourself baby shower favor ideas...I am throwing my own shower, I am expecting my second baby boy and this is the second shower that I will have thrown for myself. Pathetic huh? I was 19 years old for the 1st shower and didn't even do or think about doing favors, I know that sounds terrible but I had no idea about how those things went, I had never even been to a baby shower before. Please reply with any and all ideas possible, I googled them but came up pretty empty handed... Thanks guys!!
I think it would be funny to fill a diaper with something (like, tape it shut and line it with tissue paper) Like homemade cookies you could do (you could get cookie cutters from a baking store- rattles, babies, storks, that sort of thing) or maybe candies that are baby related- baby ruth, cry babies, sour patch kids....
You can make your own bath salts VERY easily... All you do is buy a bottle of essential oils, (whatever scent you like lavender/chammamille ect...) and food coloring. then you take a big thing of epsom salts (very cheap at pharmacy) and you put it in a bowl. Mix in essential oils and food coloring and poof *you have home made bath salts* dont use enough to dampen them, though. You can buy party favor gift bags (the plastic kind... usually for candys, ect.) at a party stor for very very cheap. Then go to the craft store and get some ribbon. You can use computer paper and your computer to make tags for them, thanking them.
i hope i helped! If you google Home made party favors, there are good ideas too!
For my baby shower my aunty made baby booties out of construction paper && stuffed it with some candy. I also had some miniature baby bottles made from white chocolate(and the food coloring*pink*blue*). But you may also want to check on google for homemade party favors. Good luck Girl!!
I am ordering pencils that have my son's name and year then we are going to sharpen them and use them as writing utensils for games and for favors. That way everyone knows his name, knows how to spell it and gets something practical to keep. I have more info on it if you wanted.
My sister had little boxes that she put candies in and tied with ribbon and stamped with ducks and diapers. She also made bottles out of toilet paper rolls and baby shoes out of ribbon and cardboard. Yes we went overboard.
So for this baby shower we are both pregnant and won't feel like doing that crap we are buying the boxes they sell at Wal-Mart that already have baby stuff on them.
Here are some ideas from my showers and my fams showers...
All of the figurines are from the $ store and the ribbons and beads and holders are from the party store. but i think lots of the stuff can be found at party city and stores like that. all of these were hand made. the only thing that was done at the store was the ribbons and that was because it was customized. Hope this helps!
My aunt bought cinnabuns and put them in to individual bags and she made a ticket that says Thanks for sharing mommy-daddys special day From their Bun in the oven. She tied the ticket around each bag and put a little baby foot sticker on them. She also bought bottled water and printed off the computer a piece of paper that would fit around the water label. Mine said Olsowski's Baby Shower March 9,2008 in the middle and behind it it had pink baby's feet. On one side it said Briseis is expected to arrive on April 15th! On the opposite side was the ingredients of what you get on water. Mine said Amount/serving %DV* underneath that it said Adorable 100% Loveable 100% Spoiled Rotten 100% Trouble 100% Ingredients: A lifetime filled with exploration, joy happiness and love. When they go to leave just give them a water and a package of cinnabuns. For me it was a good idea because no one could remember her name or spell it. My other aunt made me a diaper cake. It had diapers, booties, washcloths, etc on it. It was the most cutest thing ever. I think you can get the ideas on google. I know thoes aren't party favors but maybe that can help you out a little.
i just went to a party supply source store and got little boxes that are really cute and cheap and put colored m and m's in them- u can get them in any color there.pink blue or whatever. we also had little gifts for the people who won the games - my aunts threw the shower and went to the dlooar store and got little candles, pic frames, photo albums, bubble bath and wrapped them all and when you won a game you got to choose a prize.
