In-utero activiy = baby's personality?

posted 18th Mar '08
I had a woman tell me today that my baby's excessive movement is a sign that she'll be an active child/person. While it was cute to hear, I figured that it was just an old wives tale. Anybody heard that?

no I think it's totally true. If they move a lot in your belly chances are they will still be moving a lot after they are born. My daughter is all over the place and she moved all the time while I was pregnant. This baby moves even more than she did so I am really in trouble now lol.

my first baby moved nonstop in the womb.. from the moment she was born, she was the most mellow baby ever. she still is. i dont think its a sign of character, maybe just what the baby is eating in the womb... i had lots of icecream and candy

My son never stopped moving while I was preggo. He actually was so active that he managed to tie his cord in a true double knot. Unfortunately this was a definate pre-cursor to his personality...he is WILD. He never sits still and is so hyper...I'm so tired. LOL

I could tell my kids personalitieswhen they were inside me. Amelia is wild and all over the place. Annalisa is very laid back. And Tres (he's finally here!) is a little of both with one big temper.

A nurse who was checking the fetal movement of my baby told me the same thing. He kept moving away from the heart monitor and was being very difficult. However, she said something very disturbing that made me mad. She told me that my son was going to be a brat. My mom was in the room with us and didn't like the comment either, because she wasn't even joking. Im sorry but last time I checked, a child isn't born a brat..its how they are raised. Sheeesh! you gotta love the things ppl say

Many women will have different answers to this. I have asked this before in another forum and most women there said that no it does not mean your baby will be born hyper because they moved so much in your belly. On BG as you can see it is the opposite response. I hope I dont have a hyper baby but I feel that is inevitable.

my daughter was calm inside and out. My son was crazy inside and out. This one is being calm inside so lets hope its true and that means i get a calm bubby when it gets out.

Generally I eat pretty well; it's just kind of a habit thing I guess. I've always prefered stuff like grapes and other fruit to candy, however.... Yesterday my little gymnist ate a lot and a lot of strange things. She didn't really seem to 'act' any differently though. I don't know. I'm just happy that she does move so much. I would probably be one of those paranoid mommies if I couldn't feel her all the time.

I think I would have come unglued if somebody said that to me. What a bitch.
