Macaroni and cheese for an eight month old?

posted 3rd Oct '11
My daughter just turned eight months old today and i wanted to make her a special lunch of mac and cheese. is it safe to put cows milk in it or should i make a special batch just for her with formula? she's already had pasta and cheese (she loves pepper jack!) but ive never give her anything with cows milk in it.

Pepper jack is made with cow's milk...

But I personally wouldn't. It's not all that healthy and it'd taste gross with formula.

how do you make cheese without milk?... I gave it to my daughter and mashed taters wich I use milk and butter in so unless she has a milk alergy it shouldnt bother her

formula will make it NASTY....

a little bit of cows milk probably wont bother her at all, if shes already been eating cheeses.

i always thought that the milk proteins are broken down in yogurts and cheeses but they arent in regular milk and thats why its not good to give babies cows milk until they are one. but i didnt know if they mean a glass of milk or milk mixed into things like mac and cheese or mashed potatoes.

if she has a problem with lactose, shes going to have problems with any dairy products. so if she hasnt had a problem, youre probably good to go.

besides, theres such a LITTLE amount of milk in the small serving she will eat, itll be fine.

IDK why but my SIL started letting both her kids have milk in bottles at around 9 months and it didnt hurt them? plus I let DD eat cereal with me at about 9 or 10 months I never thought of it as the same as giving her a glass of milk   but if she already eats cheese she will be fine
