ultrasounds

how many ultrasounds did everyone have? i only had 2. the sencond one was only a week after the first one b/c i got sick and was having really bad cramps and thats the only reason i even had a second one...is it normal to only have 1 ultrasound thru out the whole pregnancy?

im only 18 weeks and iv had four and will have another thursday >.>

its very normal. Most ins. companies only cover 1 u/s. The fetal anatomy u/s usually done about 20 weeks. UNLESS there is a medical reason to do another then they will pay for u another 1. We paid out of pocket for our 4 D and we have had 4 2 D u/s . the 20 weeks normal one. I had one at 12 weeks (medical reason... couldnt pick up and HB) one at 24 week (medical reason... needed pics of the heart and chambers they couldnt get at the 20 week u/s b/c he wouldnt cooperate and one at 37 weeks (to confirm he is breech for my c section)

But YES its normal for most ins companies to only allow u 1 u/s unless there is a medical reason. sometimes the docs will ''find'' you a medical reason.. just to u can have a nother one.. put it has to be a documented reason in ur chart.
if u only get one then they arent worried about anything.

thats what i thought...i was pretty sure that they would do more than 1!!! just to check on the babys growth and everything

My doctor only does two. One at eight weeks, and another at twenty weeks.

They DONT. unless u need it. depends on ur insurance.. not the doctor. the 20 weeks one is the ONLY one they do for growth unless they have reason to want to check more often. they dont just do them just b/c inless ur ins will cover them just b/c. unless u pay outta pocket for it. Like i said.. i work at a docs office... its the insurance that is depends on ... not the doctor

I had one at my first visit, 11 weeks
I had one two weeks later, (Dr. couldn't find heartbeat on the monitor)
I had one at 20 weeks
and I'm having one at my next appointment on Friday because she wants to make sure she's a girl.

I would have only gotten 2. One at 8 weeks for my due date and one around 20 weeks, but I had one at 4 weeks because I had a etopic pg beforeI had my daughter, I got on after my 20 week because my daughter did not want to show us what she was and I had to have one every week for the last 9-10 weeks because I could not feel the baby move.

well dang it! i have title 19 so thats prolly why...and theres no way i could talk my dr into another one...unless she thinks the baby's breech but that would mean it flipped over....bc she said when she first checked me for dialation that the head was down...so idk

If you are having a totally normal unhindered pregnancy, yes.
I myself have had 4 so far, due to a number of different factors....and will probably have one more at least before my son is born, so they can check on his size and all that good stuff...(Because he's supposedly running on the big side)

I've had four already, and I'm one day shy of 28 weeks.

I got them because they thought the fluid was low the first time, but the last three times they've checked me, they said it was fine, and to come back again just to be sure.

It's annoying to have to drive an hour there and back.. but I got a free 4-D ultrasound video with my last one.. which is so cool!

my son is breech and im having a c section on thursday. TRUST me ... you dont want an u/s THAT bad. LOL You cant 'talk'' the doc into another one unles u want to pay outta pocket for one. At my docs a regular 2 D u/s is $600-$800 . BUT we got a 4D done at 28 weeks just b/c we wanted to and my doc offers them just for fun.. we had to pay of course .. but it was only $175 and well worth it. They arent medically necessary so thats why they are cheaper.. not considered and medical procedure. the others are.. thats why they are so much more

I have had only 2 and I only get one more because of my insurance, it sucks!

Only 1 at 17 weeks. I'm 32 weeks and they're not even planning on doing one.
