AFP TESTING....

LAST WEEK I TOOK MY AFP TEST, TODAY MY DOCTOR CALLED ME AND SAID MY TEST CAME BACK POSITIVE FOR T18 OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I COULDNT REALLY HEAR HER BECAUSE I WAS CRYING SO HARD. I AM 18 WEEKS AND THIS IS MY FIRST BABY. IS THIS SOMETHING I SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT OR IS THIS A COMMON MISTAKE.

did u take the test that was suposd 2 check 4 any abnormalities like down syndrom n stuff like dat?

I just took my test yesterday so I hope everything is fine... but did you read the pamphlet they give you? Cause it says that even if the test came back positive it doesnt mean there is something wrong with the baby, it just means that they have to keep making furthur tests...calm down and ill keep you in my prayers...

because my friend took it and it came out positive and they just kept her in close check but her baby came out fine. so they do make mistakes and ya read the lil book they give you. all those things are helpful and worth reading.

I agree, my doctor actually told me that they are not a hundred percent accurate! Don't stress yet!

Yep!! I had the test done at 21 weeks and 1 day, which was a week and a day too late. My test came back positive for a risk of down syndrone. I went through my confused moment but the doctor made it clear that its just a screening and NOT an accurate test, Especially when the test was given to my too late in the pregnancy. I have to go for genetic counseling and a more detailed ultrasound and I'm praying things work out ok because this is my last pregnancy. I think you'll be just fine. A friend of mine had the same results and her babies came out great!!!
