Anyone have NT testing and have false positives?

This test is relatively new so I couldn't find much infoabout the results other than 5% end up being false positive. My baby 'failed' his/her NT screening (ultrasound plus bloodwork) and now I have to go in for a Level 2 ultrasound, bloodwork and they want to do amnio.

I was just wondering if anyone here 'flunked' this test initially but when they went for additional testing- baby was fine?

Usually if the blood work and ultrasound are both positive, its a pretty good indicator of a neural tube defect. I'm sorry. I wish I could give you positive imput, but I worked in maternal fetal medicine for 2 years and haven't seen both come out positive before and it not be a neural tube defect. You're in my prayers!!!

The good news is that I was born w/ spina bifida and am perfectly functioning!!! No problems at all. Good Luck!

Princess, Well I passed the bloodwork and flunked the ultrasound. So I am hoping those work in baby's favor. That's amazing you have spina bifida and you function so perfectly!Very encouraging, thank you!Thanks for the reply and encouragement! 

While pregnant with my third child I had a false positive. Both my blood work AND my ultrasound looked abnormal, I was freaking out! No worries though, they were wrong on the due date which thorugh off the test. We later redid the test during the correct weeks and I was fine.

I'm sure everything will be fine.A lot of times a problem on the u/s can mean that you aren't as far along as the drs thought. Try not to worry!!! Just enjoy being pregnant for now and wait until you have the 2nd u/s. If they still see something not right you'll probably be offered and amnio.
