I haven't talked to my doctor about it, I am today so it may change, but I try to take 2 when I wake up, 2 whenI have lunch, and 2 when I go to bed. My SIL also was taking brewers yeast too, butI don't know how that works so I am going to ask my dct about that too

I also mix feed, not by choice though. I wasn't making enough for the little guy. I partly blame myself since I didn't pump as often as I should have. He was in the hospital for a month and that was my main concern. I also had company so sneaking away to pump wasn't always easy. Either way my little guy loves the boob no matter how little he gets out of it. lol It puts him to sleep.

I have been breastfeeding my 3 month old daughter exclusively. She weighs 9 1/2 lbs. & is 21 inches long. The doctor says she's fine but I notice babies usually gain more weight than what is just ok. She eats every 2 hrs. for @ least 1 hr. @ a time. To me that's skinny for a baby who eats as much as she does. She's a very happy baby but sheis also a little fussy pants.

I have lots of friends with babies around her age. They eat for 20-30 min. & are way bigger than her. Even babies that are 1 or 2 months younger are bigger. I'm not trying to compare babies I just want her to be healthy & well fed.

My parents are urging me to give her formula once in a while. They swear that she'll stop fussing, fill her tummy more, & gain weight. So my husband & I gave her 2 formula bottles yesterday & she wasn't fussy the entire day. She was very content.

Any thoughts ladies please???

how much did she weigh at birth? 9.5 pounds seems low fora 3 month old. Did you doctor say anything at her 2 month well baby?

I would say if she is fussy and constantly at the breast, then she isn't getting enough. So you are either going to have to supplement or cluster feed. Which means put her to the breast at any sign of hunger to help up your supply.

My son weighed more than her at birth, so I can't really compare the two. But at 2 months my son weighed 14.10 and at 4 months he weighed 19.8. So i'm guessing at 3 months he weighed somewhere around 16-17 lbs. He was also exclusively breastfed at that time.

She was born @ 6lbs. 13 oz. & was 19 1/2 inches long. her doctor says every baby grows differently & she's just petite. I'm scheduling her a "weigh in" visit this week to see how her growth curve is going.

i just had my son on the 6th...i initially produced plenty of milk but due to inverted nipples, i couldn't get him to latch so we got rid of the syringes and went to bottles and i pumped every two hrs when i was awake.

now im producing less than two ounces from both breasts together each time i pump so at night i prepare three four oz bottles for him to eat since i can't pump all day and allnite and he seems to eat more at night.

is that harmful for him to have breast milk during the day and formula at night?

Does anyone here have PCOS? I do and I've been finding a lot of stuff online about how a lot of women with PCOS have low supply issues. I've been taking fenugreek and blessed thistle and I haven't noticed that much of a difference. I tried drinking a beer last night because I heard that that helps, but I couldn't choke it down- I hate beer. I'm about to take my son to the pedi to see how his weight is going. I think I will ask the pediatrician about the PCOS and see if there is anything I can do to help with that.

I was producing enough to feed 5 babies until I got endometriitus (infection of the uterus), and had to be in the hospital for a week.... I also became short on supply for my 9lb boy and am mix feeding. My Aunt is a nurse and said if you pump and add breastmilk that you have pumped to formula, it makes digestion easier for baby. I am a mix feeder!

Just wondering....you're mixing BM & formula in a bottle to feed your baby? I've been wanting to try that because I do both BF & formula.

yeah. There's nothing wrong w/ mixing them...the only neg you might run into is if the baby doesn't finish the bottle then some bm is inevitably wasted.

i have to go in to the armory tomorrow and have no supply in the freezer for her for my husband to give her so I am gonna have him give her formula. Makes me nervous but I know she will be ok.......the tomorrow I will pump every time I get the tingles, lol.

I am glad this thread is here because I was ready to give up BFing all together because I thought mixing messes up their bellies  Hopefully when I pump, I will be able to have milk for her the next two days I am gone.......in the national guard and need to go in to make some extra money while on maternity leave......yippie!

Honesyly, ima very stirct BFing momma, but if thats what seems to make baby happy then I would just do both to be honest. REcently Ive been thinking thta I need to bottle feed her breastmilk every once in a while because latlely she hasnt been liking the boob too much. I think she gets bored or something and she as well is3 months, so I would just do what you think is best and what makes baby happy

Oh ok thanks. I'm going to start doing that now. I go through soo many bottles because I'll use one for BM and then one for formula.
