At my peds, they do two at once--the nurse does one side and the doc the other while I hold him in the middle. It's supposed to hurt less, and it is over fairly quickly.

The same amount of immunities is in the breastmilk no matter how much you make. So even if you bf once a day the baby getsyour immunities. So I think it's great that you are sticking it out even though it was probably frustrating and looked a lot easier to just quit. Just thought you should know.

Ha ha! The hubby thinks I'm a hero for it--but honestly, my son really LIKES BFing--I wouldn't have taken it away from him despite my personal sense of failure.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I love the idea! I know that there have been some mixed feeders on the breastfeeding thread. I also know a lot of people just post questions to PWI without going directly to the breastfeeding thread or bottlefeeding thread. But hopefully people will pick up on this and start commenting. You know, mixed feeding could also be those that breast feed and bottle with expressed milk...I bet they have some of the same issues. I know there are several women on the BFing thread right now who are dealing with babies who don't want the bottle or don't want the breast. I'm sure that's a common frustration regardless of what's in the bottle.

Anyway...love the idea...good luck.

I'm really interested in the which bottles you guys are using question. My baby will be here soon and I was wondering which bottles are best. I have the drop-ins because that is what my mom used with all of us and was her suggestion, so I'm hoping they work out, but if they don't, which ones work well for you all?

I use drop ins as well! I used them with both girls and they've been great.

I used to use Dr. Browns--but recently switched to MAM over the BPA scare. The MAM are awesome--less problems with gas than even the Doc Browns! Honestly, whatever you get, I'd recommend a wide neck--it's way less confusing for a baby when switching between bottle and breast.

I'm a mixed feeder! I BF 1-3x a day and bottlefeed the rest. My son was in the NICU so I have HUGE production issues. And nothing I tried would work either. So after 3 months of exclusive breastfeeding/pumping I threw in the towel and decided to do what was easiest and breastfeed AND formula feed. My son was 3 lbs 8 oz and now is a fat and happy 9 lbs 11 oz. It works well for us

I belong here! I work full time and have a hate-hate relationship with my crappy pump. I was exclusively breastfeeding and pumping twice a day at work. Then it went to once and now I don't pump at all at work.

I do pump when I get home, he eats from one breast and I pump the other. So I would say in a typical day at the sitters he gets one breastmilk bottle and one formula bottle (6 oz of both). I also mix his cereal with formula, b/c I can't spare any breastmilk to mix it with.

I recently (Friday night) was diagnosed with Mono, after spending all night in the hospital getting fluids for dehydration. I went almost 24 hours without breastfeeding, so my supply is REALLY struggling right now. I am out of work until Thursday so i'm using this oppurtunity to breastfeed only and get my supply back up.

I use Avent bottles and have never had a problem with him switching back and forth.

ohh I like this thread, I'm a mix feeder too, my story: she just wouldn't latch on, I went crazy, cried in frustration and finally started pumping and feeding, thank God I have a good supply, then a new issue came up, my BM makes my daughter throw up big time, and I mean Linda Blair all out through the nose, scary, went blue once big time, I think it was reflux sooo I started mixing 3 oz mommy juice, 1 oz enfamil AR in avent bottles, last bottle of the day is 100% formula, the first time we did that at 2 months she slept from 9:15 pm to 7ish and has stuck to that routine, day time feedings are every 2 hours, since then I do get her to latch on sometimes, we both have to be very calm for this to happen....pumping suks but at least my baby is getting some of the good stuff from my efforts...I stuck it out through 3 Masthittis episodes so even if I mix I still think of it as a success story lol

Welcome!

I liked the Avent--a good wide neck--but stopped using them over the BPA scare.

yeah a researched it, but i'm really not worried about it. I would have to keep him in a bubble if I listened to everything.

I just don't sterilize them or heat them up at all.
