Belly sleeping

Do any of you put your babies down for naps on their bellies? It's the only way Olivir will sleep well. I feel bad. I don't do it at night, but for his naps, he's belly down and I just check on him every 10 mins or so.

I have put my daughter down for naps occasionally on her belly, and I too would check on her frequently. When I was a baby, that's how you were supposed to put the baby and I survived! I say if you are checking on him frequently, it should be okay!

perfectly normal and fine...just keep an eye on him thats all...its better for nap times to be on their belly...thats what my pedi told me

that's really reassuring! I was so afraid I was gonna get a flogging from hell from the mommies on here lol. I know...my mom said I used to sleep on my belly when I was a baby too, but SIDS scares the hell outta me, and I know that he sleeps deeper on his belly, and it just supports the idea that if he did have an apneatic episode, he probably wouldn't wake himself out of it. Speaking of which, time to check on Ollie....

i tried to keep victoria on her back but she HATED it. she would scream and cry and ended up sleeping on my chest every night for the first 2 1/2 months or so. I finally gave in when she was 3 months old and let her sleep on her belly. at first i started only with naps but the waking every 2 hours at night for that longwas killing me. sooo, i talked to her pedi and ended up letting her become an all the time belly sleeper.

I'm going to talk to his pedi at his next visit because I'm up every hour with him at night anyway because he whimpers literally all night long on his back....

My fiance and I were both 'belly sleepers' when we were babies...And we are doing just fine! You should count your blessings now girl! That your lil one LIKES to be on his belly! Mine would flip out! The only time he sleeps on his belly is if he is on my chest and can see my face! Soak it up momma! I bet he will do just fine with tummy time too! Luckkkkky you!!!!

Riker generally naps on his belly.
i also lay him down on his tummy at night but i flip him onto his back when he falls asleep, as obviously, i can't keep an eye on him all night =]

oh, i completely forgot to say that my daughter did have acid reflux which is another major reason her pedi approved belly sleeping. I would rather have taken my chances than for her to choke on her spit up.

my daughter also prefers sleeping on her belly. i still lay her on her back for night time sleeping, but for nap times, she goes on her belly, and sleeps for a longer period of time. i think if your child is able to move their heads from side to side, and knows to move their head if something is in their face, they should be okay. i'ma big worrier with SIDS also, but the angel care monitors have GREAT reviews!!

i started letting olivia sleep on her belly for naps at about 2 weeks then around 6 she wouldnt sleep on her back at all any longer so i started putting her on her belly. the first few nights i would get up constantly to check on her but i didnt have a problem putting her on her belly since she had great head control

Colton refuses to sleep on his back in his crib so I put him on his side or belly. (Belly most of the time) and just keep checking on him. As for at night, I have to put him in his car seat to sleep since he wont sleep on his back in the crib and I wont let him sleep on his belly while I'm sleeping.

They are worth EVERY penny if it means I don't feel the need to get up 10 times a night...
