Hubs is Icelandic, I'm Irish. He has two very Nordic-named kids, I have two very Celtic-named babies. Choosing a name for this little girl was nothing short of a nightmare until Carla Neggers came to the rescue. If you're not devoutly Catholic, or really into Irish saints and folklore, this will sound incredibly odd. Our daughter's name is Sunniva Rachelle. Sunniva is the patron saint of Norway. It's not Icelandic, but it's close enough. He refused to compromise on a less frightening spelling for Sigurfinne (Seraphina), and he hated Elin and Lilja. Rachelle is a family name. We're planning on using Sunni (Sunny) as a nickname, and her name means "sun gift." Thoughts?

Personally I would have went for the crazy traditionally spelled Sigurfinne, lol (love Seraphina).
Sunniva is really nice and I think Sunny would be a cute nickname. Not too big on Rachelle, but it helps that it's a family name.

I love Gaelic and "Viking" names (Norse, Icelandic, etc.). I like Sunniva, but I'm not a fan of Rachelle.

I also told Michael about the baby, and he was upset at first, but now he's happy   he wants to get married but I said no. I don't want a shotgun wedding.

I'm not big on Rachelle either, but I'm willing to compromise to get the first name. It works with our last name, and we won't really have to use it that often. Unless we come up with some other brilliant middle name, it'll stay Rachelle. I'll live. Both of my bio-kids have family middle names (Vincent and Iona), so I can let it go without much fuss this time, too.

It was my husband's choice. The only family name left on my side is Mae. I'm trying to work on him for that, but I'm not sure how successful I'll be in the end.
