When my daughter was younger she used to get a little bit of a rash on her neck 'roll' she was very chunky. I would clean it 3-4 times a day and make sure it stayed dry. Sometimes when she would drink she would dribble formula into that crease. That's what the red mark was from.

I don't have any suggestions, but I just need to say, I hope you were joking about calling your son a "fat ass." wow.

Could you put some baby powder under there to help keep it dry? I dont know, just a thought.

And, some people have said not to use baby powder at all, but the concern with it was talc and thats not in baby powder anymore (or just check for it) and if you are going to use it put it on your hand then pat it on the baby so they arent inhaling all the powder/dust.

When I had this issue I just kept it as dry as possible. Sometimes only at bed time I would put a slight amount of desitin on my daughters neck and it seemed to clear it up. I didn't start using powder on my daughters neck until she hit 9months old.

I'm not sure if the OP has the same problem I have or if their child has something different.

It's just from the milk dribbling down or plain 'ol drool.

Riker was getting that for awhile no matter how often I washed him.
Putting neosporin on it would clear the rash up completely literally overnight.
now i put aquaphor on his neck to work as a barrier and he hasn't gotten one since =]

i'd definitely do the neosporin asap !

The Aquaphor didn't work for me. But then again I only had the issue until she hit a year old then she stopped all her drooling/dribbing issues. hehe!

it's alright....vitamin A and D ointment will work just the same as the neo. it might be cheaper.

good luck with the rash.

if it doesn't clear up though...talk to your doctor.

does it smell like an unwashed vag? if so, it's probably a yeast infection.

Um ALL baby powder that says just baby powder IS TALC- that is what baby powder is made of UNLESS you get the cornstarch type which is only cornstarch. I know this because I am a nurse. Just an FYI for you all.

Well, I asked the doctor and he told me otherwise. All baby powders USED TO be talc. Thats not the case anymore. Since there was research about the adverse effects of inhaling talc powder many companies have changed their ingredients.

J&J (which is probably one of the most common makers of baby products IMO) dont use talc. Nothing on the front of the packaging says so. It is marketed only as "baby powder" and there is no talc.

So... thanks for the FYI anyhow.
