re: How much do you spend per child for Christmas?

I only have one child at the moment and I spend about $100 to $150. She's 5 almost 6 so theres not a lot of expensive stuff to get her, plus she gets a lot of stuff from our other family members.

I'm really bad about going overboard. The last two years have been a little ridiculous. Last year was over $1000, but we got him an outdoor playset on top of gifts to open.

I just have to say that it makes me sick how much some people spend on Christmas. WOW. My son gets 3 presents and his stocking from us, and then he'll get presents from others. And the idea of doing 1 gift per year of age is ridiculous. I mean really, when your child is 18 you're going to buy them 18 presents, and of course when they're that age they want more expensive gifts.

We spend between $150- $200 on each kid but this year i'm down sizing a little since my kids don't need anything . Growing up my mom didn't have allot of money and even the chirstmas's that I did get a ton of presents doesn't stand out in my mind. The christmas's that mean the most to me are the ones where my mom got me involved , the ones we did charity work , and believe it or not the ones where we were the poorest. One year my mom didn't have allot of money so she went t the store and the dollar stores and picked up cheep items and did the 12 days of Christmas with me . every night i got something new it didn't cost much but was so much fun!!

its not your money so why would it make you sick?

$400 on each kid? That's just stupid. What does your husband think about that amount he probably thinks you gone crazy! Mine would.

You can't worry about why some people think its stupid. Different strokes for different folks. It's only stupid if you don't have to funds to make those purchases. If you do & everything else has been taken care of, don't worry about what other people think!
The only people I care about is my family. If they're smiling, I'm smiling. Some stranger thinking I'm silly for spending what I spend means absolutely nothing to me.

last year we had one he was 9 months old and we spent about 400-500, this year our princess will be joining. To me the money or how many isnt important. if i see something i think they will want i get it.

Havent started christmas shopping yet.
Probably some clothes and books and coloring things, maybe a game for her ds. Since the baby probably wont be here til Jan it will probably get some little toy or something from Santa.
