Concord Neo stroller?

posted 5th Mar
I've recently begun my search for "the perfect" stroller. Since we don't have baby stores near us, my parents (very excited first-time grandparents) have been "test driving" for us. They both loved the Orbit Baby infant system. It was the first premium stroller they'd ever seen. Mom said she would have been tempted to buy it on the spot, if she had known my preference for colors and accessories. But then they went to another store and saw the Bugaboo Cameleon (mom's favorite because of all the "pretty colors") and the Stokke Xplory (dad's favorite because it was just so cool and original.) I was hoping they'd be able to see the UppaBaby Vista, since that's at the top of my list (and a good deal less pricey), but so far no luck. So far my only reservation about the Vista is the width (with the normal, all-terrain wheels.) But now I think I may have actually found the "perfect stroller", and I'm desperately searching for information...

It's the Concord Neo (from Germany), and I've read that the Spanish company Jane (which currently sells the Powertwin in the U.S.) will start distributing the Concord Neo in the United States. Supposedly, it's supposed to happen in the first quarter of '08. I've emailed both "Jane USA" and Concord to try to get more information but haven't gotten any response yet. So I'm hoping maybe somebody here knows something, anything...

The Concord Neo looks great and I love how compact the fold can eventually become! But, if you can't wait for them to make it to the US...you should try the Quinny Buzz! The Concord Neo looks a lot like the Buzz 4...however the regular Buzz looks just as unique!I LOVE ours! I love it way more than our Bugaboo (that is currently collecting dust in the closet) I could go on for days about all its great features...but, I wont!

Bugaboo has redesigned the Cameleon...so make sure if you buy one you actually get one of the New 2008's! They've added a Chocolate base and a different Blue...they got rid of the old Blue and they changed the color of the Pink tailored fabric!

The Stokke looks cool...but is NOT practical! Also check out the Peg Perego Skate! It weighs a ton...and I hate the Primo Viaggio carseat (we've had 2, ugh) But, the stroller looks great!

Chele, thanks for the helpful reply! I had the Quinny Buzz on my initial (big) list. My husband didn't like the 3 wheel design. He thought it'd be less stable than 4 wheels and that it would make curbs difficult. Have you used it with an infant or just an older toddler? I'd want to get the bassinet. I'm not convinced that I'll actually want an infant baby seat (my sister-in-law has one she's not using anymore if I change my mind), so I'd want to use the bassinet exclusively for the first few months. Do you have the bassinet? If so, how does it compare to the Bugaboo? At this point, I'm pretty sure I don't want a Bugaboo, but it's still a good point of comparison (especially since a lot of "stroller experts", like you, seem to have used a Bugaboo at one point!)

Anyway, back to the Buzz. (Hope you don't mind all my questions, but you did say you could go on for days about all it's great features...) Do you find it heavy/cumbersome? For some reason, I have a couple different weights in my (extensive) stroller notes: 26.6 lbs. and 36 lbs. Perhaps the heavier value is with seat or with bassinet?? I saw one negative review that said it was too wide, but it looks like it's only 1 inch wider than the Bugaboo, so I'm not too concerned about that... The funniest negative review I read about the Buzz is that the hood is small and VERY loud, so much so that it "scares" the baby. I'm guessing you've never had any issues like that! O.K., last Buzz question: have you have any problems with the front wheels being hard platic and not having suspension as good as the back wheels?

Thanks for the Stokke opinion. That's basically the conclusion I'd reached, but it helps to hear it from an "experienced mom". My parents are actually going to look at the Skate tomorrow. I found a store near them that has the Vista, Mutsy 4Rider Light, Skate, and Valco Rad. According to Quinny's website (which I just visited again), this store also carries Quinny strollers. So I emailed my mom so she'd look for the Quinny Buzz. The store is small and might not have all models on display, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!

O.K., now I'm off to check out the Quinny Buzz 4. Even if it's only available in Europe, it's still fun to look! Thanks again for all the advice!!

I just bought the Quinny a couple weeks ago...our daughter is 9.5 months so we didn't need the carry cot and we have a great infant seat, so I didn't bother with the Maxi Cosi! (Which I wouldn't mind getting in the future, "IF" we have another baby)

However, we used the Bugaboo bassinet a LOT! The carry cots are great and super convenient! We always took Lauren out of her infant carrier and laid her in the bassinet! We used it in our hotel room while on vacation, it was great on walks, if she fell asleep I could just pop it off and carry it into the house! The one thing I've heard, isthat the Dreami carry cot that works with the Quinny is a bit "wobbly" (I don't personally know, like I said we don't have the carry cot and as soon as I heard that I went in to test it out for myself, but the store was sold out!)...the Bugaboo one feels like it might have the same issue though! Looking at them from a design stand point, any of them that attach to 2 little prongs in the middle of the seat aren't going to be that stable! But, that's not my complaint with the Bugaboo bassinet...the thingis a pain in the butt! It's just one frame and you basically have to decide if you want a bassinet or a seat!? For me there were times when Lauren wanted to be sitting up and looking around and then she'd get tired and it just seemed like she would've been more comfortable in the carry cot, but instead of just popping it on like the Quinny, UppaBaby, RSB, Stokke...etc, with the Bugaboo you'd have to switch the whole seat fabric...my other major issue with the Bugaboo is that the shoulder straps never got tight enough and she could literally flip herself over in the seat!

I didn't like the 3-wheel look of the Quinny at first, either! Without the seat it kinda looks like an aluminum phallic symbol! lol I originally went into the baby boutique to check out the Bugaboo Bee...and even though I've tried it out before, I decided to try the Buzz out again...what totally sold me was how comfy Lauren looked while she was in it! The seat is like neoprene wrapped memory foam, so great! It doesn't feel less stable then the Bugaboo and the ride honestly feels the same, however I haven't taken it downtown and onto the cobblestone to test it out. The Quinny is 26lbs with the seat attached! I wish it were lighter...but, it's totally manageable! The Quinny canopy isn't any smaller than the Bugaboo it's just shaped differently, the great thing is that it's telescopic so if you havea tall child who requires more head room...it moves up and down on the frame. It is wider than the Bugaboo...I haven't had any issues...but, I could see where it could be if youwere trying to get through a really tight space...all I can say is, you better have good depth perception! LOL But, that goes for the Bugaboo too...and I've also heard the UppaBaby is EVEN wider than the Quinny! Which I can't even imagine!

So here are the things I LOVE about the Quinny vs the Bugaboo:
~Adjustable Harness, Footrest, Canopy...it also has an adjustable handle that is MUCH easier than the Bugaboo to use
~The Bumper bar is on a hinge or can be completely removed
~Seat Fabric is fabulous
~It can be folded with the seat attached
~The underbasket is easier to get too...however I like the Bugaboo look much more
~The canopy has a peek a boo window, something the Bugaboo is lacking
~The coolest feature: Gas spring technology opening mechanism...my kids fight over who gets to be the one to tap the handle! LOL

The downside:
~The mechanism that keeps the stroller closed is really hard to hook! But, the weight of the seat, keeps it closed when the seat is attached and when it's not attached...there is a way to grab it so that it doesn't just POP open on you, when you are taking it out of the car!
~No cupholder...but, FYI: I stole the one of our Bugaboo, made by Bugaboo and it totally fits the Quinny SEAMLESSLY!
~The Quinny seat "seems" small...even though our 3.5yo was fine in it...but they are including the XL seat with their 2008 models!

I've taken side by side pics of our Bugaboo (Frog) and the Quinny...here's a link!

Check out the Valco Rad...I haven't test drove it...but the video reviews I've seen are pretty favorable!

OH, if I've missed a question...let me know! I tried to answer all of them, but I'm sure I might've missed one or two! LOL

WOW!! Thank you! First, I love the side-by-side comparison pix. Especially the ones with your daughter   She's absolutely adorable. And such a cute little dress. (I'm still about a week away from finding out the sex of ours, so no cute clothes shopping for me yet...)

Thank you so much for answering my questions. I really hope my parents get to see a Quinny tomorrow. 26 pounds is definitely manageable. I think that for all the features I want, right around 25 pounds is about as light as it's going to get. The pictures of the mosquito net and rain cover on the Quinny are very helpful: it really does look like a well-designed system. And yes, the UppaBaby is wider than the Quinny (at least with the standard all-terrain wheels). It's 27" wide! It's good to know that the adjustable handle is better on the Quinny. My husband is 8 inches taller than me, so that's an important feature for us. And I can definitely see how folding all in one piece is a huge advantage. Actually, I think that's probably my biggest issue with the Bugaboo. And it's good to know that the 2008 Quinny models will have a larger seat.

I so wish I had baby stores nearby so that I could test drive some of these strollers. The nearest stores with any of these strollers are at least 3 hours away! Fortunately, there's plenty of shopping in NJ where my parents live, and I'll probably take a trip home within the next month or so. But until then, reviews like yours are extremely helpful! I'm sure I'll read through yours (and add to my notes) a few more times.

Hi there, i bought concord neo stroller, it was SO PERFECT, but with one big defect... the brakes were strange. if you walk on the plane surfice, then its ok, but ones you walk outdoor (where is wind...and so on) then the breaks applys itself... i went for shopping and in the end i couldn't release the brakes and i had to call my husband to pick me up... i felt so bad. went back to the shop ans the changed the frame, but it was the same... then iwent back, and i checked the concord neo in the shop... it was the same... so i got the money back, but i am so upset.
