What is your doctors opinion?

I am in the hospital trying to keep twins in the oven. I am 32 weeks and 3days. My OB/GYN says that every hour a baby (at this gestational age) is in the womb is critical.and that every day in the womb is almost 3 days of not being in NICU.

Myhigh-risk specialist says that hours and daysareNOT critical. Weeks however are the importantmile markers. He believes that a baby in the womb at this point has in most cases developed themost important functions. He believes that if they were younger then hours and days matter for their well-being but not at this age.

I am confused!!!!These doctors are working together toin my case and they don't agree on this issue, which one is right?

Aren't most twins born around 37 weeks anyway? I would think the doctor who said that weeks matter and that your babies are mostly developed is more correct, but of course they are still better in than out!

Days can make a difference in some cases. Keep them in as long as you can. Cause you know.. a week is just another way of saying 7 days. xP

I definitely want them in until I can't keep them in any longer! I am mostly just curious about their positions. It really upsets me when they come in at different times to check on me and have conflicting opinions and advice. In my opinion I think that the time in me is basically to get some fat on their little bones which I want but at the same time...I don't know how much baby weight my body will handle. Thanks for the opinions mammas!

i am not to sure but i would think that if they arent thriving inside (getting enough nutrients and getting bigger, fatter) then they would be better outside....like when a baby stops growing they take it out right??? i guess it just depends on wether they are getting worse or better in your womb..

I've been told that days matter when you're waiting for little lungs to develop...especially if they're trying to keep them inside you while they give you steroids to develop their lungs. According to my sis's docs when my niece was coming VERY early...they said every day they could keep her in while they administered the drugs to rapidly mature her lungs were critical. They didn't mention it was beneficial for any other reason though...good luck!

I stayed a week in the hospital before I had my girls. My doc kept telling me "everyday in the womb is less time in the NICU." The only reason he took them when he did was because my health was in danger. He told me that the risk of keeping them in finally outweighed the benefits. It's definitely best to keep them cooking for as long as you can, even if it's only a few more days!

Good luck and congrats!
