Does your premie have this?
posted 3rd Mar
My little son was born early but thank God, very healthy. I am concerned because his belly is soooo round and kinda pooches out at the sides. He also has a seperation down the center of his belly. It makes him look like he's pregnant. His doctor says it's normal in premies but none of the other premie babies I've seen have bellies like this...Just wondering if anyone else's baby does?

My son didn't have that and he was 10 weeks early, they always said they would get worried if his tummy got swollen though. How early was your son??

My kids all looked like that and they were born full term. My hubby and I used to joke all of the time that they looked like little frogs.

My son had this same look and he was born at 32 weeks.

It's because the muscles in the abdomen are not yet connected. I actually was a nanny for a term baby who had it. He's 4 now and his stomach still kind of looks split, but for most kids it goes away once the muscles get stronger. And the big round belly is normal! If I wasn't so lazy, I'd post pictures of both my kids' bellies. They deffinitely do look like little frogs, skinny legs and enormous round bellies!
