My hubby and I are trying to decide (if given the option) between the two posts. Please vote and tell me why you would choose that place. We love the outdoors/country life but do not like to be too secluded--a little city is nice! We also havea boy in middle school so schools and crime rate are definitely a factor. It is so hard to know without having been to either state! Lol!

I've been to both. I was in basic training at fort jackson & LOVED it.. However, I was kept with my unit until family/graduation day where I went to a mall. That mall was WONDERFUL!

Now we're at fort sill. Honestly, I hate it here. It's boring, if you get a house in a 'bad' section of lawton you'll end up like us, 4 break ins, numerous truck break in attempts, one break in attempt while you're home & a dude getting shot outside your house.

OR you can live in Elgin/sterling. I love it there, it's a small town not too far from post, but far away from all the stupid gangs in Lawton. They have gorgeous houses & really friendly people.

Lawton mall sucks though.. However, we do have OKC which has an enoooooooooormous mall.


Anywho, I voted sill. If I'm stuck here, you should be too.

I was Army and was stationed at both. Ft Jackson SUCKS! The weather is horrible and there is NOTHING to do within hours of you there. Ft Sill is super because you are in the middle of everything. There's tons of shopping, Bricktown, and if you want to drive an hour to more malls there's Tulsa!

The weather sucks here too! 2 days ago it was HOT, now it's snowing.

Ever been to Ft Leonard Wood? That is where we are now and it really sucks... Lol!

It was almost 80 yesterday and we are supposed to get 5-7 inches of snow tonight. So stop sending me your crappy weather.

The schools here are good.. I think? Idk I don't have kids lol. But I haven't heard anything bad.

Fort Sill it is! Does he work in a section or is he just regular patrol? What rank is he?

I can't help because I haven't been to either, but I wanted to add in...Fort Irwin sucks more than all the others combined. Middle of the freaking desert. The nearest town is over a half hour away. & it's a really crappy town. Meth capital of the world with a couple fast food places and a walmart. If you want a mall, movie theatre & a few sit down resturants thats almost an hour and a half away!

However, I am only 2 1/2 hours to both Las Vegas & Los Angeles....
