posted 1st Mar
I have tryed just about every bottle out there and she is not interested in it no matter what i put in it... when she was born i used to breast and bottle feed but formula made her constipated and i had no pump so i stoped (dumb me) shes six months now and i could really use some extra time but i cant get her to switch over even if i pump and put it in a bottle... what do i do? she will just throw a fit if i try giving her a bottle when shes hungry   I dont want to BF forever

Try giving it to her in a sippy instead of a bottle.

I too would like for my babe to take pumped milk..... I have had the best luck with the ventair bottles by playtex (she still will only take them if she STARVING) it was suggested to me to warm the nipple up so that it feels more like the breast......good luck to you....and if you find any magiv bottles or tricks that work, I'd love to know them!!

Good luck. My daughter didn't take a bottle or soother at all until my body just couldn't keep up with the demands of feeding her/my son/ and myself and for some reason hernutrition got the beating of it.....She finally just got so hungry that she took the bottle like nothing when I figured it was time to switch. Just keep up your guns and keep trying, you won't have to BF forever but you keep trying momma and good luck!

well, in my experiance when they get hungry enough, they'll take just about anything. The best luck I've had is with evenflo comfi nipples and regular bottles, and the NUBY straw sippys. Will won't take anything else.

Try having someone else give it to her. One of mine refused to take a bottle from me but was fine taking it when I wasn't there. Also let her play with the bottle/ sippy cup between feedings, it might get a tiny bit messy every once in a while but it's not too bad if it is just a little water or watered down juice in it.

First of all...do you want to completely wean or just have a break every now and then? I breastfed both of my girls for about 18 months, but both of them could take a bottle of pumped milk so that I could get a break!!
Try these tips in getting her to take a bottle (let me know if you've tried them yet or not

1.) Have someone else offer her the bottle
2.) You leave the house while she's offered the bottle...baby can sense when mommy is still near and oftenwill hold out forthe booby!
3.) Try nursing her a little first, then leave...so that she's not terribly hungry when she's offered the bottle.
4.) Have the person offering the bottle to warm the nipple a little by dipping it in warm water.
5.) Have the person offering the bottle to try different positions.

Also, is she on a little baby food now? If you need to leave her with someone for a few hours, nurse right before you leave, and let the sitter offer baby food while you're gone. She's old enough to "last" 4-5 hours without nursing!

Remember, your baby is older...she'll eat if she's hungry enough when you're not there. If you're trying to wean completely, then try the above steps for a period of a couple of weeks until you have her taking the bottle from someone else, then you can try slowly replacing bottles for nursings and after a few weeks she should beweaned. But I HIGHLY recommend nursing, even part-time, for as long as you can...it's very rewarding and very healthy for the baby to stay on breastmilk until 1 yr or longer.

oooh, ooooh...I second that one! That worked well for both my girls in the second half of their firstyear.

# 3 is a good one! We had to do that sometimes when Will wouldn't take a bottle at first. I would "trick" him into taking it and would hold him close to my bare breast while giving it to him.

I was going to tell you to try the adiri bottle, or the breastflow bottle as it is the same but cheaper. Hope it works for you! I love the Adiri bottles!
