Mushrooms?

When is ok for a toddler to eat mushrooms (cooked in food)? My son is 2.4 years old. Thanks for your input.

I didn't know there was a time line for them?

i dont know. i didnt know there was a time you couldnt. DD has been eating mushrooms at the chinese place since she ate table foods

White mushrooms are safe anytime as long as they are fresh or canned. I would probably stay away from more exotic ones. Some can be allergens.

Dont do exotic yet, only fresh ( My mom worked in a mushroom factory and Ive heard stories about canned) Watch for allergies. Not sure how common it is, but Im allergic....

Ooo Now i'm curious..what kind of stories about canned mushrooms? Those are my fav lol

Thank you ladies! I made pasta with fresh mushrooms and spinach in a cream sauce. I wanted to make sure it was safe before I served him some.

my sons been eating them since 12 months and has had no problems....Always check family histories to make sure there isnt one for mushrooms though! lol

The ones that get canned are the ones that fall on the floor that everyone steps on... I guess it could be worse, but my family will NOT do canned mushrooms... Id suggest buying fresh and canning them yourself...

Oh I just figured the canning factory was separate from the fresh packaging factory.

There isn't a history of mushroom allergies. I just remembered reading a baby book that stated to keep away from mushrooms for a while since it is technically a fungus. I just forgot what was the timeframe.

Meh, the are boiled before they go in the can.  .
