posted 25th Feb
Hello everyone!! Thought I'd join you all. I am currently (almost) 17 weeks pregnant with identical boys. They are mo/di twins. Last week they each were already 5 oz each!! I already feel them move ALL the time and am very excited.

So I had a random thought today. Is it possible my twin never grew because Scarlytt was attached to both placentas? Idk how twins work   And I have no idea what made me wonder this randomly today.

yes. It may have been that the twin was just not going to be viable and she was already taking all the nutrients herself.

Yeah her cord was split and goin between the two super placentas haha. Her Nickname is moo moo for good reasonhaha. I didn't know if she could have been stealing the nutrients with a fraternal that early or not. Idk how it all works. I may ask the dr when I do my 6wk pp visit.

Idk really. I don't know why her cord would be going to both if they were fraternal? You should ask your OB this for sure! Just cause you're curious.

They were in two diff sacs. Idk. Maybe it was just a fluke placenta and not even the twins. Or maybe It was actually triplets   haha!! She showed me it was two huge placentas with vessels passing between the two. There was a strip of membrane between the two and you could see the vessels crossing it. It was wild.

yea, cause if they had their own placentas, they should have had their own cords going to one each and should have been fine? Idk, that's pretty wild. Update us if you learn anything new

Thought I would come and give a small update! My little Guinevere is officially walking! When she wants to of course, but every day she gets up and going more and more. Sylvanna's had a viral infection she's finally starting to shake so she may not be far behind. We spent 6 hours in the ER Monday.. not fun, at least we made it back home before the big snow storm hit us. We've gotten crazy amounts of snow here! She's finally shook the fever stage too. We spent days with her fever wanting to be 103 or a little over unless we strictly kept up on the tylenol/motrin schedule.

So I asked the dr about the two placentas. He said pretty much ill never know exactly what happened. It was for sure some kind of abnormality in how the placentas attached. So it could have been a fluke that she attached to baby b's placenta, thus taking the nutrients from him (kind of like ttts). I asked if that was even possible with fraternal twins and he said yes. He also said there could have been two in her sac on top of it and she just kind of took over before te baby could grow on top of vts. It's hard to tell really. I'm just happy she's here happy and healthy. She's getting so big already.
