Inverted nipples- 9 month old

posted 19th Jul '11
My 9 month old daughter has what appears to be inverted nipples, I was wondering if she is destined to have these her whole life or is it something that corrects itself? I've included a picture to show what I mean..

My 3 year old had one like that and is now normal, and my 9 month old has both just the same. her right one stays out most of the time now so I think they will both be normal. Im not too sure really but my girls changed!

thank you! I figured it will be probably be something that will change and is hormone related, but I wasn't positive. Couldn't find much online about it either..

They could very well stay inverted. Mine were inverted up until I started breastfeeding my son (now one still is inverted. I'm hoping the next baby fixes that side too).

But, some kids, especially girls, outgrow it at puberty.

Inverted nipples (the kind that don't outgrow) are genetic. My kids have a 50/50 chance of having inverted nipples. My son does. Luckily for him, it'll never be an issue for him and unless he's over weight most people won't even be able to notice since his appear to be flat unless he's chunky (when he was a newbie they were very in, then went flat. then inverted again when he got fat around 9 months, now they're back to being flat...although they never stick out).

This is not something I tell everyone, but I've had inverted nipples pretty much my whole life, until I got pregnant, now they are out and erect all the time, it was honestly never a big deal, they run in my family, but I was the only child of three to get them...

I know! I was worried at first with Skye (being my first) but it never bothered her and the midwives werent concered so I left it and it popped out but itself. And her wee sisters seem to be doing the same.
My SO has a weird nipple that inverts sometimes so I thought it was a genetic thing. lol
Pretty sure your wee one will be fine

I have heard about older woman having them, I just wasn't sure about infants. As far as I know, it doesn't run in my family and I don't have them. I'm thinking she will probably "grow into them"

if no one else in your family has them then i would guess she'll probably grow into them, I get mine from my fathers side of the family, two aunts and my grandma all have them.
