YES! There's nothing better than the baby on the breast to stimulate milk production. Remember, it is frequency of nursing, not duration of the session that boosts production. If you are power-pumping to boost supply, then go 10 mins on, 10 mins off, 10 mins on, etc for an hour. If you're nursing to boost supply, make sure you empty each breast every time. Good luck boosting supply!

natesmomma- Why are you even in this thread, aside from to stir up shit? This was an informative thread on extended breastfeeding and your comments and, yes, lack of reading comprehension are doing nothing besides making you look stupid and petty.

I was in the other thread before your beloved god came and posted THE SAME THREAD.  Before you say I'm starting shit or stirring shit up, look to her.

Okay, so she posted the same thread. It happens on this site every day. Didn't mean you had to come over here and start trouble.

No, she started the trouble by posting the same thing.  Doesn't she come on here every once in a while and yell at people for posting the same thing that is being talked about already?  And I'M the hypocrite.

Not everyone in these forums searches for specific topics, and I certainly don't get anywhere besides my due date group on a daily basis. I don't know where the other thread was, and this topic caught my interest. That's how these kinds of forums work. Isn't it okay to just leave well enough alone, not come into this thread and avoid the drama? I, like many others in this thread, found the article informative. You're the only one who said anything about her posting an already-existant topic. It doesn't make you any better than her to say, "Well, SHE says this and SHE says that, so I can do the same thing." It's childish and annoying.

I dunno if this has been addressed yet, it probably has, but milk is produced on demand, so the more demand there is, the more milk is produced.

i know that i pump like crazy (hard to latch 2 babies at the same tome and they will only eat next to each other) but i heard the baby stimulates it more than pumping

That's my understanding as well.

I think that the baby definitely stimulates more than pumping...in my experience with bfing though, my little one went on a nursing strike a few months back and I actually had to take medication to get it back up. I find that waiting a little longer between feeds so she fully empties me out and I have enough time to bring my milk back in works better than smaller feeds closer together. That is just my experience though.

Quoting natesmomma:“ The difference between breastfeeding till 2 and then breastfeeding till 8, is that doing it until they are 8 IS disgusting. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing BUT there is a limit. Do you agree that there are age limits to certain things? I.E. showering with a parent/sibling, diapers, bottles, binkies...etc? Everyone on here is a little bit hypocritical. Even the one who calls herself god. "

Actually I don't agree on "set" age limits. There are some "age" requirements set by our law makers such as "legal age", when you can get a driver's license, etc. BUT I don't believe in a "cut off" age to such things as breastfeeding, diapers, bottles, blinkies, showering with a parent/sibliling. These are choices made by the what the parent feels comfortable with and influenced by the individual needs and preferences of the child.
My oldest son is almost 19 and still comes into the bathroom with me while I'm bathing or showering. AND NO neither one of us is receiving "sexual stimulation" through this! My children (all teenagers) love to watch me breastfeeding. My 13 year old son IS uncomfortable with me being in the bathroom when he's showering so I respect this and we have a natural "cut off" time to seeing each other naked. Like I said, my other son has never had that problem and so the "age limit" has not yet been reached although he's almost 19.

Although I can't "see" myself breastfeeding past toddler age. The information in this thread from god and in the other thread from the mother who is practicing extended breastfeeding has opened my eyes to alot of new ideas and perhaps I will end up breastfeeding my new baby past toddler age depending on what he and I need and feel comfortable with when the time comes...
