Thanks for this thread! Adoption has been on my heart for a few years now.. We are TTC but not sure for how long we will continue, have had 2 miscarriages. Whether or not we are able to get pregnant I know I want to adopt in the future. DH and I are beginning to look at different agencies in our state. The whole process is very overwhelming to me!

Has anyone in here adopted via foster care?

I just received the news today that I may not be able to have children. My husband and I want to adopt! We want to do it independently first then explore agencies. I'm not sure where to start looking for a birth mother in my area but we hope to find one soon.

We have taken in 27 foster kids, we have had 2 miscarriages, 1 ectopic rupture, and our Beautiful 18 month old special needs daughter tragically passed away in March, Just weeks before her adoption was to be final... I am the adoptive mom of twins. We love adoption and our kids birthmom. We are huge advocates for open adoptions. We are currently in the adoption processes again, our home study is complete and our profile is up, now we are to the waiting part.

well girls we are back on the adoption seeking list...the birth mother we were working with up an left the province. I am just lost, and don't know where else to look. I want to do independent adoption, and within Canada, so if you know anyone can you please forward my information, pretty PLEASE.

I love this thread!!! It's helped so many questions I've been having about my TTC!!!!  Hoping I'm pregnant. 8 days late but I keep getting BFN!!!! What is going on in there????? If not preggers I'm definetly buying an OPK!!!! But keeping my fingers crossed! Only been trying for two months!! Wish me luck ya'll!!!

I've always wanted to adopt!

My partner and I have always wanted to adopt and when we seen that trying on our own wasn't working we looked into adoption. We went through 3 failed adoptions and decided to try again to have a baby. We partner was put on fertility meds and luckily we were blessed with our 16 month old daughter Brooklyn Kate. We still would love to adopt one day. We are really only interested in an open or semi-open adoption. Im not sure if we could do a closed adoption as we truly want that special bond with our childs first mother. Anyhoo, just a little about us

I wish I had time to ready everything, but I don't. So I hope you'll forgive me you've answered this question 100 times...

Where do I start? What's the first thing I should do to get the ball rolling on adopting?

I live in AZ and I don't want to start with a full service adoption agency (too expensive). I also want to stay in country and preferably in state if possible.

How strict are the home inspections? Are there resources that share how to make your home ready for inspection?

Any advice would be much appreciated. I am so overwhelmed.
