Quoting Adoption is Awesome:" You should always trust your gut. Also people should call and meet with at LEAST three agencies."

Yeah.. I usually have a pretty damn good intuition when it comes to that stuff lol

We called 4 agencies before we called our county's social services dpt to see what their process was. Cost-wise, we decided to try the social services adoption route first and if it doesnt work for us then we will likely use Bethany Christian Services (we aren't religious but grew up Christian) since we have met several people who had really good placements from there.

I'd like to adopt from or through a Christian agency or facilitator.

I go to a large Christian mega church and when I asked them for a referral I figured they would tell me Bethany but they did NOT. Instead they recommended our local small agency.

The reason I do not like Bethany is because the more you make the more they charge you for an adoption! WTF? Or at least it was that way in 2009. A also have heard many people waiting 2+ years with Bethany.

Though they ARE a legitamate agency. But I think you'll end up spending $30K with them.

What have you heard? Are you working through them? I hope you have a positive experience if that's the route you are taking.

No offense, but eff that. We might as well spend that on two rounds of IVF.

We are going through foster care to adopt. I didn't want to take a loan out to do an agency adoption and since we are 22 (me) and 25 (DH) we would need to in order to fund it all.

I pray that you will be patient with the system and wait for a placement that you and your husband feel is a good fit for your situation.

Hey everyone, I'm Tammy. I have 3 beautiful daughters, 15, 12, & 2 and want to adopt a boy. After another failed/horrible pregnancy DH and I have decided we are officially going to adopt   We're not going to adopt a newborn because I feel bad for the older kids that don't get adopted but we're also not adopting a teen either (Ihave 2 of those already  ) We want a boy ranging from 2-4 so our daughter and him can grow up together.

We haven't officially started the process since 1, we just agreed on this last night 2, we want him out of the military, and 3, we need him to be seizure free so we're waiting on his surgery/recovery to be over.

I have never felt so strongly about adopting as I do today. I've actually changed my career because of the last time DH and I talked about adopting. I'm am currently enrolled in college to be a Family Law Attorney specializing in Adoption, custody, ect. After reading that you're probably wondering why I'm in here, well I'm only in my 3rd semester, 1st year so I don't have all the knowledge about how this works yet. I only have basic knowledge & experience from when DH adopted my oldest.

Anyway, I want/need to know everything about TTA and where I should start. Any advice would be helpful.

Who else is doing foster to adopt? We are not half way through our classes, but I cant help but think about what kids we will get. We want to foster 0-7, but hoping to adopt 2-4. Anyways I am getting nervous about getting a school age kid. My daughter is only 2, so were in the learning phases of each age. I am sure it will all be fine, but its something I am nervous about.

Is any one knowledgeable about adopting a child that has been removed from the home by CPS? Justin is her uncle, by blood, and there's no one else that is able to take her. Every one else in the family is a convicted felon, is involved in the possible abuse case, or in trouble with the law for being a hard core druggie.

I know its possible, and normally looked at before adopting to non relatives. You would need to contact the county where the child is, and let them know. Also just cause she was taken by CPS doesnt mean she wont go back with her parents. Reunification by the parents is number 1, then they will look to relatives.
