I am sorta jealous, were in NC now, but I would die to go to Italy. I am hoping we can soon.

just a tip: when traveling to italy...try to stay NORTH of rome. anything SOUTH is pretty bad unless you go to Capri or Amalfi Coast.

It was nice at the beginning..but we have been here since 2008, so we are ready to come home...or at least close to home

Yeah I bet. That was the same with us in CA. I was ready to leave by the second year. I really want to see Venice. My husband wants to do embassy duty so were hoping we can get stationed there, but it will only be for a year and half.

My dad's family is from (and a lot still live in) Lucca, Italy.

Just got a call yesterday about setting up a homestudy :]

Can't wait to start that final step in preparing to adopt.

Our foster to adopt orientation is today. I am excited to get all the info we need.

yay! i just went through it so feel free to ask me any questions. of course, each county and each state has different rules, but the overall concept is the same as well as a lot of the terminology.

i'm so glad to see people that want to adopt, i adopted my daughter and i'm in the process of adopting my son! i would love for you to add me!  

So we had our orientation. Not sure if it went as I thought. Our goal is to adopt a child, and they said that its not their main goal. Which I fully understand. I would love all children to be with their parents, but I didnt feel like they were much into the adoption process. So I am not sure what else to do. I am going to look for a public or private agency to help us out. Any advice or info would be great.

Thats the same that we were told. We found they do have a "fast track" program in our county where the children have already had the rights terminated and they are ready for adoption the moment you get them.

Yeah we are still going to go through with the foster parenting, cause I want to do it not matter if we adopt of not. But I really want to adopt. The did mention we have to foster consecutively for 6 months the we can do the home study for adoption. So I think this next week I am going to look at bypassing the foster parent route.
