Quoting Casey :]:" You should talk to your county's social services office to see if they have a "fast track" adoption program where the children already have the parental rights terminated"

I don't think we have that in our county. The closest thing would be doing foster adopt. My husband and I don't want to go that route. It would be to emotionally draining to become attached to children and not be able to adopt them.

"fast track" is a branch of foster care but those children have already been through the process of foster care and their bio-family has already lost rights. the fast track kids are just waiting for forever homes.

You can adopt kids that are already waiting, and most of them are free to adopt other then court cost. Thats what we are doing. Were just going through our local social services.

We may look into this down the road. However, at this point Joe and I would love to have the newborn experience. Unfortunately, most of the waiting children are older. It is worth exploring a little more though. Thanks!

Is anyone thinking about doing a inter-state or trans-racial adoption? I've been researching adoption agencies and a couple I've found in Wisconsin have these types of programs. The agency has connection with other programs in the US and work to coordinate semi-open to open adoptions between states. Often it results in African American or Hispanic children being placed in homes with white parents. I've found that the wait time is much shorter and the costs are a little less. This sounds like a great option for hubby and I, but I worry about the child's racial identity growing up with white parents in a predominantly white community. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience in this area? Thanks... Again lol. I have a lot of questions as I start researching adoption.

We have those worries too, we have some friends who are Hispanic and African American but I am worried about what other people will say.
