*Update* Ovulation question (little long)

posted 26th Feb
Ok, gals... I just began TTC again this month although not actively (charting, etc.)b/c I have a long history of anovulation and not getting my cycles, so I was waiting to see if I would be able to get my cycle on my own this month. I stopped taking my bc pill on the 11th. I had 2expired OPK's (leftover from trying for my son) that I took yesterday morning and the morning before. The first one had a line (but not nearly as dark as the reference line) and the next day the line was much darker. I had intention of trying to BD last night, but I had a HUGE anatomy test today and needed to study. Ok, my question. I went to the bathroom a little while ago and when I wiped I was lightly spotting... I googled this:

Spotting that occurs in the middle of your cycle or spotting that occurs some ten to fourteen days prior to the start of the next cycle is normal too. This spotting may occur during ovulation. Seeing a spot of blood during ovulation is considered an excellent fertility sign. It is thought that mid-cycle spotting occurs for one of two reasons. First reason is possibly that when the egg bursts through the follicle, a little bleeding may occur. This blood will then make its way out and show up as “spotting”. Or, during ovulation, the level of estrogens rise, and this sometimes prompts the uterus to shed a bit of lining, which shows up in the form of “spotting.”

My question: Do you think I can still become pregnant if DH and I BD tonight, or have I missed my window?

Thanks guys!

***UPDATE*** I started leaking breastmilk last night and I only BF my son for 3 weeks. WTH is going on?!?!?

I think after the ege is released you have like 2-3 days to fertilize it.... it can't hurt to try, so I say BD!!!! keeping my fingers crossed for you! hope that helps

thanks for replying... i ended up full on bleeding, so who knows whats going on. guess my body is still trying to get adjusted. i just don't know why i would have a positive for fixing to ovulate and then get my period (again, after only 2 weeks...not even)?!?! oh, well.   may be headed down the same course as last time.

I'd say BD anyways, for the hell of it its fun! And a stress reliever! Anyways. In my experience BC takes a while to get out of your system *though every woman is different.* I've been off since Oct of 07 and still TTC. Good Luck.. Baby Dust!

Hey brodyzmom I'd read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Excellent book, teaches you how to watch for your body's signals. My cycles are really long and I temp just so that I know when to expect AF. (I was just looking back and the cycle that I got preggo on last was 65 days. ) Watching cervical fluid can tell you if your body is preparing to ovulate and temping can tell you if you did. (I don't know if you already know all of this but I thought I'd just throw it out there.)

BC can mess your body up for a few months but one of the interesting things this book said is that some women bleed like a period when they ovulate. It gives an example of a woman that got AF every two weeks and it would alternate heavy and light. Come to find out when she was on the light bleeding she was actually ovulating. I just thought it was interesting and thought of it when I read your post.

hey thanks...yeah i know all the temping, CM...etc. etc., i think in my short time i learned almost every fertility trick in the book, had every procedure, etc.but that's really interesting about the lady...that would make sense. hmmm...interesting, very interesting. i was so excited at the thought of ovulating on my own, i was just beside myself and was afraid i had gotten my hopes up for nothing. maybe not, huh?!?! thanks again!!!
