milk supply

ok so over that past few days my milk has been drying up.. i went from pumping almost 2 ounces out of each breast to almost 1 ounce combined.. the lactation consultant put me on reglan to increase it.. and i start massaging my breast and nothing is working.. my son will be home in 2 weeks and i dont know what to do i really dont want to formula feed.. they are doing that now because they ran out of my milk at his NICU... do ya'll know of anything that can increase my milk supply? please please someone help me

Did you by any chance go back on BCP? I had the same thing happen to me, and I was only pumping bc my lil guy was burning more cal's trying to eat than he was gaining! I was pumpkin 8 ozs at a time, went on the BCP meant for nursing mom's and in a week dried up.  

I would suggest also pumping more often. Does your NICU have a pump room where you can go pump right after you see him?

I pretty much stopped pumping.. the whole time I pumped I wouldn't get more than an oz combined. I finally gave up so hopefully you'll have better luck than I have.

Try taking Fenugreek and drinking mothers milk tea.. and keep pumping..

you can get fenugreek for around 7 dollars at the GNC store they also should have the mothers milk tea.. I started to dry up.. and when i started on the fenu greek i started leaking again lol i hadnt leaked in weeks prior to that.. so try it 

well the more you pump the more you get milk once you stop pumping it will dry up soo id try pumping as much as you can because brest milk is the best for your little one anyways well mmm to increse it drink lots of water and keep massaging and keep pumping ........................ good luck

pump pump pump...all day! im serious. that sounds awful I know...but youve gotta.
Do that and take lots of hot showers and use lots of hot compresses.

are you useing a hospital gthats what most grade pump?.. that is what NICU moms need cz they are pumping 24/7 and other pumps arent powerful enough.also see about nursing him maybe once a week even for A short timepumping right after and doing kangaroo care pyumoing rihgt after.it would of worked for me but i got alot of infections after my c section and all the antibiotiucs dried me up. also try power pumping and loking at a pic of him wehile pumping or closing your eyes and imagin its him nursing while yourt pumping.. hope it all works out and i will pray for your son

ive got a hospitol pump they sent me home with it when he got here.. and ive been nursing him for like 2 weeks now.. ive tapped a pic of him on the pump.. and nothing seams to work.. i got infected after my c-section too.. maybe that could be why milk is drying up..

Obviously pumping every 2 hours at least but make sure you are constantly drinking so you dont get dehydrated. Keep a bottle of water at your side at all times. And make sure you are eating enough.

okay it may sound crazy but if i don't eat enough i don't get any milk. i have to force myself to eat about a thousand extra calories just to feed. i went from pumping 10 oz each time to only getting 6 and now that i keep calories up i get about 16 oz

yeh i was in the hospital for 2 vweeks on iv antibiotics but just drink water. and try pumping every hour if every 21 hours doesnt work

Do you breastfeed too?

I pump about 12 oz at a time, but my letdown is so strong that my baby chokes on the milk unless I pump like 4 oz from each side before I breastfeed him.

He didn't learn to latch on until less than a week ago so I've been pumping for 3 weeks.. make way more than he eats obviously.
