re: Dogs

Oh, I feel the same way! Glad I'm not the only one. I thought I was being a terrible mean person but I just can't stand my dog anymore sometimes, wheresa She used to be my baby and center of my world. She is a miniature chihuahua. We got her in March 2005 as a baby and I had my daughter in July 2007 so she had over 2 years of being # 1 in my life..... and now.. ha, well you know. Sometimes I feel bad too. She used to sleep in my bed and always be curled up besided me or following mewherever I wasbut I wont let hardly let her near me anymore...I don't even have time to give her bath's really and it doesn't help much anyway... she seems to get dirty so quick. She has always had a potty training problem too and we rent so we dont really have a yard or anything which she can go out in and she poops and pess all over the carpet daily and it pisses me off so much....... especially since my daughter is trying to crawl already and rolls all over the floor. sometimes I just feel like throwing my dog out or giving her away so I wont have to deal with her anymore but I know I would never do that. She gets so annoying to me now though. I would at least feel better about it if she could go to the bathroom where she is supposed to but since she almost never does it causes me so much worry and stress. grrrr..... any suggestions?

That is the same relationship that I had with my dog. My dog is going to be 3 this year. I don't know what to do either.

oh i so could not do that. i had a cocker spaniel growing up and we always kept his hair short. the girl that did my hair had a maltese named bernie, but he had a "puppy cut"

It sucks.I guess I'm going to buy a baby/dog gate and confine my dog to one area of the house almost all the time....sounds cruel.. but I absolutley will not have ny daughter crawling around on dog pee and dog poop. disgusting. I just dont know what the heck else to do!!!!!!!

These posts make me so sad.

I don't want to make a bunch of drama, but I can't imagine loving my dog any less just because Kennedy is here. And honestly, I think that because he knows that, that is why he is so good with her and well-behaved around her.

Ya, you still have to blow dry them when they have a puppy cut.

I know it makes us sad too. Don't get me wrong though, I don't go around beating my dog up. I am sure your dog does not pee and poop where your son crawls.Does your dog bark for no reason? It is great that you still feel the same way about your dog. I hope that when Xavier gets older everything will go back to normal.

We used to have a big problem with Bentley pooping and peeing wherever he pleased (fortunately, that waswe before we had the baby)... For some reason, just getting him neutered seemed to solve that problem. He still has accidents from time to time, but I just chalk it up to part of having a dog and clean it up. Fortunately, if he has an accident, it always happens on the bathroom floor - Easy to spot and easy to clean up.

And yeah, he DOES bark like a maniac when people walk by our apartment (which is frequently, we're in a high-traffic area), and I admit, it's a little nerve-wracking to me at times but it doesn't seem to bother Kennedy. We'll be moving in the next few months, so hopefully the new place won't be as busy and he'll bark less.

note to self: stick with short haired dogs

lol i dont even blow dry my hair. yea im planning on getting a baby gate soon, im just noe sure what kind i want... i keep the cats litter boxes in my laundry room, and their food bowls on top of the dryer. but the dog likes to try and steal turds to eat out the litter boxes and i dont need that going on. and especially later when vinnie is crawling i dont need him getting in there either. i need to find one thats pittie resistant, i dont think any could be called pit proof

I know what you mean. We have a cat too and the dog also likes to get into the litter box and drag out cat poop (and we even have an automatic litter box) so that's annoying..... I too don't know what kind of baby gate to get.. just cant decide.

I was going to say about the same thing. I still love my dog but it causes me so much stress because I worry about the health of my daughter, she doesn't need to be crawling around on dog pee and poop.. and my doesn't do it ocassionally, she does it nearly ever darned time she goes either on the carpet or on the rug. Sometimes I feel like locking her up in the bathroom but I dont want to be that cruel.. but I'm just sick of the mess, and I keep thinknig into the future as well.... my daugter is #1 now and her health is very important.... I'm so afraid she will come across a piece of dog poop one day and... well you know.... or get dog pess all over her.. and we have dark colored carpet so once it dries you cant even see it. Gah, sorry! That's my main reason that I'm like that with my dog now that I have my baby.

I know exactly what you mean, I would feel worse if my son ate dog poop. It all comes down too what kind of mother puts a dog over their child. I would be devastated if he got some wierd illnes for eating dog poop or dog pee seeping into his skin. We have a back yard so she goes out whenever she needs too, but she still manages to mess up. She does it in sneaky places too.

Ewww, the dogs eat the kitty poop that is the foulist smelling stuff. I used to blow dry my hair straight almost every day. I don't have time for that anymore with Xavier. I really hate having to use my personal time to blow dry my dogs hair. Of course Xaviers father never helps with that.
