HELP! He gasps for air??

I don't know what's going on with my son, but when he's sleeping, it's almost as if he's suffering from apnea! He'll just start gasping for air like it's his first breath!!! Anybody else had this? Or is there something TERRIBLY wrong?!?!?!?

My daughter doesn't didn't do it when she slept i don't think but I noticed it when she was awake with me.. and took her to the ER when she was 3 days old.. they told me it was pretty normal If ur worried, take her to the hospital and have them check his oxygen levels and such when he's asleep. thats what they did with Bry and she was fine and getting good oxygen ...

my little girl does that too! im not sure what it is, but i think they may just not have gotten the hang of different kinds of breathing if that makes sense. how old is he?

Its something you should ask your doctor about. My son had the same problem and there was more to his situation but the one thing they always asked was if he stopped breathing or turned blue. Babies do breathe funny in the beginning also. Its irregular sometimes and sounds like gasping at times. So just keep an eye on him and ask your doctor, or go to the ER if you think its necessary.

He'll be a month old on the 17th.

And the whole different breathing techniques make sense. He rapidly breathes shallow breaths sometimes, then it's normal breathing. But this only happens when he 's sleeping.

Leo did it too, i got it checked out purely because i have pollups in my nose, (which means i cant breathe thru it) and was worried incase Leo had gotten them too. the doc told me his nose was fine nd it was a perfectly normal thing to happen

i know its scary! i juped outta bed manys a time before i found out it was ok lol
but it will go over time, and youll not even notice till you think ''hey he hasnt done that gaspy thing for ages now!''

Oh... I hope so. There's only so many times I can fall out of bed trying to reach over to him (he sleeps in a cradle beside my bed)!!
