My Farmer's Market purchases for this week. Had the longest conversations with the lady who sold me the Satsumas and gave DD 3 free because of DD's zeal for oranges, and the hydroponic lettuce growers. So glad that the growing season is so long here, I know you be jealous.

You better believe that I've eaten at least 5 of those Satsumas.

They were super sweet too! We ate them plain and sliced them into our salads.

I was talking with DH this afternoon about how I watched the movie Hud with Paul Newman from 1963. In the movie a character eats an orange and remarks "it's from Florida, we grow them right here in Texas what make them think they've got to ship them all the way from there?" Do people even question it anymore?

There were 3 vendors at the market today with Ponchetula strawberries grown right in the next parish but the ones in the supermarket are from California and asia???

So, I'm tilled up my garden this past weekend and I'm going to buy seeds this week.

What should I get?!

I always start with stuff I like to eat in my salads because in the summer I live on salads. I would do like tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, onions, snap peas, beets, carrots and zucchini

Sad thing is most people don't know or care where their food comes from. Many people don't realize how long ago the produce they are eating was picked, there is nothing fresh about it. I love farmers markets and local farms because I can see where it was actually grown and find out what if any pesticides they do use
