re: inducing labor yourself

Quoting Kyrie ♥'s Monkeys:" Are you smurfing stupid? How can you say "I'm not trying to start labor and make him come out but can ... [snip!] ... exactly what you just said you weren't doing. Why would you EVER want to encourage premature birth? Shame on you, that poor kid"

Especially since she claims she already had one NICU baby.

Are you really that selfish? You are not even close to full term, what in God's name makes you so dead set on risking a premature baby?

How does the doctor know the baby must be fine? Did he jump in her uterus and ask the baby? No, the doctor has no idea until it's born.

That is a totally different situation. I am very happy that your baby was ok. I am sure if you had a choice and it was medically advised you would have let the baby bake until she was ready

Doctors taking someone off bedrest is not the ok to try extra hard to have a premature baby and no it doesn't mean the baby is healthy. I had my son at 36 weeks and no he wasn't perfectly healthy just because I wasn't on bedrest anymore. It's horrible advice to tell someone their baby will be fine, it's however not harsh to tell them to wait to avoid a preemie. That's common sense and all parents should have it.

What does "for the most part" mean?

Yeah guys lets all give her a break NONE of us had pre-term babies, had babies in the NICU and had the heartbreak of watching our babies struggle on the outside. Pre term babies "for the most part" are ok, and gambling with your kids life should be ok right???

I mean doctors and moms can predict how healthy a baby will be at 36 weeks right?

Don't be so harsh?

She is trying to give birth to a premature baby..on purpose. She isn't even close to full term, and being dilated and effaced with contrax doesn't always mean you are going to give birth, some women stay that way for a week or more. And to say "well my baby was born at 35 weeks and was fine" is ridiculas. Yes, maybe he was fine, but not all 35 weekers are fine. Why in the hell would anyone want to risk a premature baby?

It totally selfish and disgusting.
