gestational diabetes

So I got the call back from my doctor that my glucose screening test came back abnormal. So I have to go back for the 3 hour glucose tolerance test to see if I have gestational diabetes. Did/does anyone else have this and what should I expect if I do have it?

i got the call back to have the 3 hour and passed it.

my doctor said that about 9 out of 10 people who have to take the 3 hour will pass it. hope you luck out like i did!

For the testing, bring something to do. You will be there for 3 hours and get poked many times!

As far as treatment, depends on the case, but most can be controlled by watching your diet. Some people require insulin. Good luck!

Ugh.. I had to do it on Tuesday. It frriiiggin SUCKED. It really lasted more like 4.5 hours. But the good news is my results came back normal. The reason it sucked so bad, is that I fasted for 18 hours before (last meal at 7pm, and then it took until 2pm for them to finish the test). I was woozy and tired and starving, and cranky and majorly bored. Bring stuff to keep yourself entertained, because there is not much to do during those 3 hours of down time. Good luck!
