gestational diabetes.

So I got the call back from my doctor that my glucose screening test came back abnormal. So I have to go back for the 3 hour glucose tolerance test to see if I have gestational diabetes. Did/does anyone else have this and what should I expect if I do have it?

I failed my 1 hr by 2 points! But passed my 3 hr with a great score( or so the nurse said, don't know the score yet but i'll find out next wed.) It was a big worry for me b/c my mom had it with me and my little bro and shortly after my bro was born developed type 1 diabetic. But depending on your levels it could be handled with diet or in a worse case with insulin it's self. Good luck with the 3 hr, I'm sure everything will come back normal.

Yep I've had it , It wasnt so bad just drink the glucose drink again, just the waiting around for 3 hours and having to draw blood 4 times, if your levels are high on 2 of these, then you have gestional diabetes, I was over on all 4. However I changed my diet and now monitor my blood levels at home, but I've only just posted a topic on here asking for help as now my levels are tooo low!!!!??? Iv'e read alot of stuff on the net about gestional diabetes, but sometimes I think too much information is dangerous.... Just wait to see your results before worrying, I think th worrying is worst than anything!!! Good Luck xxxx
