So I thought I wanted a girl...

So I thought I wanted a girl. My boys are eight and ten and my little girl is twenty one months, so logistically it made sense. They could share a room and hand-me downs were in the bag. Having another little girl just made sense, right? So I thought I wanted a little girl, much to my surprise it was clear in the ultrasound that we are not having a girl. So I was disappointed, for a minute. Then it dawned on me, a boy, a boy is someone my boys can teach, a boy means no same sex sibling rivalry, a boy means my daughter and I can still do all the mother/ daughter things I envisioned when she was born (the day after my birthday), a boy means she is still the only girl in our whole family (26 grandchildren) and the baby will get to be the baby. I waited until I knew the sex to tell my older boys I was pregnant, one of the first things my youngest son said is, "I hope it is a boy this time." Then I got to tell him it is. Why did I think I wanted a girl?

Awww....I have two boys and then a girl.....and now I'm having a boy! I am very excited! My youngest son is 10 and it will be nice to have a little guy around again.
This is what my dad used to tell me. With sons, you only have to worry about ONE d*ck.....and with daughters you have to worry about EVERY d*ck......I never appreciated that until after Erin was born

Yes even I was a little surprised at how clearly he is a boy. It is a good thing I wanted to know because it was -quite obvious. Now I am a little at a loss for a name though, if it was a girl her name was going to be Elise. Our children are Noah, Cayden and Iris. I can't seem to think of what fits (two syllables, different beginning letter, different ending sound) any ideas? Brit-~ if you are hoping for a boy it is probably a girl. 3 questions... Ice cream or spicy food? Heartrate? Heartburn? I will make my most educated guess.

Every pregnancy is different... ya-da, ya-da, ya-da, but for me it was always heart rate over 160, sweets, less heartburn... It's a Girl! heart rate under 160, spicy food, heartburn... It's a Boy! Just a theory but 4 kids and so far, so good. This boy was 164 the first time I heard it at around 9 weeks, but it gradually went down from there so I will say anytime after 12 weeks. I hadlittle heartburn with my daughter but have friends who say they have had heartburn with their daughter's. Extremely more severe with the boys though, hmm... maybe it is all that spicy food I crave you think? Oooh and when it is a boy I cannot get enough V-8.
