ok so recently i had it out with a girl because i said a pit bull was a POTENTIALLY dangerous dog, which i still stand by,I would like to know how many of you would let you small child play around this breed of dog.... I always here and see pictutes of people saying my dog loves my baby, but then i see on the news that the dog was never vicious and was well behaved and one day just snapped!

I have a pit bull and she has been around small children since she was eight weeks old, now that she's about a year and a half she absolutely adores kids and I cant imagine separating her from them.

There would be a lot of only if's with this question.

I own a pitbull and it will be around the baby, she's a sweetheart, she never even barks, she thinks she's a tiny little puppy.

I agree!!!

If I knew the dog, and the dog has a good reputation and has been around children before, I would let my kid around it. 100% supervised though. Unless it was my own dog.

Every dog has the pre-disposition to attack.

I have 2 dogs. They are both awesome dogs but my pitt is actually so much sweeter than my whippet. When they get in a scuffle, it's always the whippet that starts it. I know there are exceptions, but it's not the breed, it's the way they are raised.

Supervised I would let my child play with a dog that shows no signs of aggression. You can't punish the breed because a few people decide to raise the dogs to fight. Not every dog is born a fighter and even the fighting dogs were innocent puppies at one point that could've been trained into being great family dogs.

That is not neccessarily true.

does she ever get agressive at feeding times or anything? my frieng had one we let come over and she tried to eat my little dogs food and my lil dog came in and the pit was never aggressive before but she actually attacked my lil rat terrier and she had to have surgery because her jaw was ripped off her face...

i have a pitbull and a shihtzu..

my shihtzu is the asshole...my pit is the sweetie... she is afraid of her own shadow....

my kids play with her, sit on her..pick on her...and she retaliates with licks

my shihtzu nips, growls and has bitten my son...(he deserved it, but still)

dont think its the breed, i think its how they are raised

90% of how it was raised... 10% of it's breed and personality

I know a lot of friends with pitbulls that are real good around kids and babies. Of course with all dogs you have to watch them cuz that'd be just dumb to leave them alone if the kids are not big enough.
