thats why its is the responsibilty of the owner to teach them to be gentle and respectful of the child and not neglect thier dog no matter the breed. Dogs think of thier family as thier 'pack' and they can be taught whpo the 'alpha dog' is. There are many stereotypes about dogs- small dogs are yappy cause they have small brains and other such things. But it has not been proven that a dog just attacks for no reason or past influence

But, I'm saying any dog can attack you know. Pitbulls do have an aggressive tendency. Hell we had a poodle when we were younger and if we got into fights. This dog would bite and scartch the crap out of the person he didn't know so well. I think with any pet you have to be careful.

Oh yeah watch them close. Sometimes dogs don't even know they are harming a person they are just playful in an aggressive way.

Oh yea... I believe I'm the alpha leader of the pack =) Everyone that's not in our little pack we have that comes up to our house... That's when they get real scary. And then I have to put em in their place...

Exactly ... they might be hoppin and playin but they are so huge and can just easily crush a small dog. Haha that's why when they play with my sis 5lb yorkie they gotta be in the submission position. If not... play times over.

well ya for sure. IMO its more watching that they dont play around and nip or something. But i wouldnt be terrified if i knew the owner treated the dog right

Wow I just read your story again. THat's crazy! I'm really cautious when other people bring dogs around my dog. I just have to be careful! They wear prong collars and everything. They are better with humans in places other than our home than they are with other dogs.

that girl was me of course. And i got upset because like most people...she judged on what she saw... and ANY pit owner would be annoyed..because we are often punished because of other people stupid decisions. I hate to see people judge a dog they don't know only because of everyone else and what they have done with their dog.
A pit is considered dangerous for reasons such as fighting, being breed to fight, or attacking people.
you got more drunk drivers killing kids than pitbulls on attack mode.
the only dangerous about my dog in reference to a child, is...... his size... he might knock them over ...licking them to death.
thats pretty much it.
but pit owners get used to ignorance. and i understand why people are scared of them....yet they never research the breed.
i 4 y/o niece was more scared of my sisters Pomeranian, then my 80lb puppy. why....? cuz that lil thing attacks something serious.
i always say:
anything with teeth bite.

I would also like to thank Mike Vick, DMX and all others that have made it hard for pits to be understood as GREAT dogs. the breed has been unfairly tainted. and those dog fighters should burn in hell.
as the nieghborhood children, BEG me to bring Chopper out, I will continue because he puts smiles on their faces..and brings them playful fun.
nothing scary in that.

for instance.. my bfs friend sold some pit bull pups.. 2 of em went to two of my bfs friends,. one i would trust xavier around no problem because the owner is gentle and has proven that and has other pets which are very friendly.. his other friend on the other hand to be honest i wouldnt trust as much cause he tends to be more short tempered.. dragging the dog is NOT a good start

What's wrong with her post?

Chopper is a cute name and doesn't mean her dog is going to "chop" anyone up

I agree. I want to kill all dog fighters. I'm serious! I hate it. I think it's the cruel and inhumane thing EVER. My man says he's amused by it and I seriously wanted to slap him in the face. I read a bunch of stories on dog fighting and what they do to the dogs that lost or really injured ones?! I seriously wanted to cry. It hink Michael Vick shouldn't of got out early... that fucker.
