I don't smoke at all, but my mother smoked with both myself and my brother and we both came out fine. She did cut back a lot while she was pregnant. I think if you are trying and really working on it, then don't beat yourself up over having a few a day.

I will admit that when I found out I was pregnant I had about 2 cigs a week. When I was 10weeks pregnant I started to bleed and thought I was having a miscarriage, but when I saw that heart beat I said to myself this is not woth it. The doctor said I was having a threatened miscarriage and all I started to do was blame it on the smoking, even though it could of been for other reason I quit. I am 15 weeks now and can't stand the smell of smoke. I understand it is a hard thing to do, but you have to think about that little life inside of you everytime you inhale smokethat little bean is inhaling also. I am not judging anybody but just think about it.

I went cold turkey and have been off them for about a month now BUT i'm really feeling it now i'm all emotional and agrivated all the time I just wanna cave cause then I know I can be more relaxed but know it's bad for the baby etc etc etc still don't make it any easier I don't know how much longer I will be able to hold off for.

It was so easy for me to quit with my first one, but I think the severe morning sickness has alot to do with that. But with this one, I wanted to, and still do, but the doctor told me not to. Since I've been smoking for so long, my body has become accustomed to it, and to just up and quit puts more stress on the baby. They suggested to just cut down, which I've done quite a bit of. Don't feel bad about it. It doesn't make you a bad mother at all. My mom smoked with all three of her kids and we are all fine. I didn't smoke at all with my first and she's got asthma, ADHD, ODD, and other medical problems.

I was never a smoker...but my friend who finally was able to quit at 3 mo's pregnant & had her baby last month told me that they're able to tell if you were smoking during pregnancy because of your placenta when you give birth...smokers have dark and gray vs pink/red placentas...which is intended to filter toxins from your baby. Thought that was interesting...maybe inspiring???
I really hope all you smokers can quit for your babies!!! You don't want to be affecting them...

My mom smoked her whole pregnancy with me. I'm fine...or at least I think I am..hehe..

Your not a bad mommy just because you smoke while being prego. There are worse things you can do while being pregnant. No smoking isnt the best but there IS worse. Just cut down, try your best to quit and think about your baby when ever you light one up. Think about them breathing in the smoke too. I'm not a smoker so I cant honestly tell you whats easy and whats not. Good Luck!

Its hard to quit any smoker will tell you that. Especially if you have a high stressed life. I feel as long as you try and you cut back till you quit is a HUGE accomplishment.....some advice that helped me was when you get that panicky feeling for a cig smoke a couple drags and throw it out...just to get rid of that feeling! your body will get use to you not having a full cig and then if you do slip up and have a full cig you dont even want it anymore....i dont like all the bashing that goes on when people just need help its not needed. we should be here to support each other! NO ONE should get bashed just bc they turned to us for advice no matter what the issue...i understand everyone has an opinion but its not always needed to be voiced. hope everyone and their babies have a wonderful valentines day!

Becaue causing stress on the baby because you are cutting something that they are used to isn't healthy for the baby, either.
And tons of people care about her story...obviously. And yes, this is a public forum and you can reply and post whatever you want, but how but abiding by the rules and not posting in all caps?

OP--I quit after I found out when I was about 2months. Smoking made me nauseous, I even made David go outside to smoke....but around 5-6months I started craving them like mad...like I've said, my doc told me that since I had been smoking a pack a day until I found out, the baby had already been used to the nicotine, and she was most likely freakin' out because I was craving this substance and ignoring it, when before I would indulge. He said 1-5 cigarettes a day won't hurt, but no more, and none would be much better. My sister smoked all through her pregnancy nonstop-and she didn't cut back-and her daughter is fine. I think it is ok to smoke a few..Normally a pack will last me about3-4 weeks, instead of a day!!
Personally, I feel I am doing very well.
To those who are going to say nasty things about pregnant women and smoking, piss off. There's my opinon.

I luv you.... LOL My first was so easy to quit smoking with. It made me so ill. I couldn't stand the smell of it. This time, it gets to me at times, but when I'm at work, I stress and end up wanting one. But when I'm at home, I smoke may 1-2 a day. I just can't stand to be around it. It's really strange how the different atmospheres really make a difference on the cravings.
