Natural or C- Section What is your Choice?

posted 13th Feb '08
I Believe every women has a choice. All in all I also believe in letting God to handle this situation. Going back to ancient times up to now believe in Natural birth. The fact is every women's body is naturally build for this. Unless mother nature causes an emergency for a c-section. What are you more comfortable with? Please share you thoughts, comment or ideas.

I would go for natural (with an epidural, haha) every time. The thought of someone cutting me open, especially while I am still conscious (sp?), creeps me out big time.

I ahd 4 natural births and wouldn't change that fact but if something was to go wrong I wouldn't hesitate to have a c -section. You will never experience anything like the feeling of a natural birth.

I went natural with both my sons and plan on going natural (no meds) with this one as well. But I was lucky, I am one of those women who have short labors (less than 3 hrs of active labor). So hoping this one isn't any different.

AHHH
I was planning natural, but my child is currently breech and my doctor is looking at a c-section...

I would way prefer natural. I'm not excited about the prospect of a C, but whatever is best for my baby, I will do...

I really want a natural birth at home or in a birth center but I can't get either! I have to go to the hospital because i'm stuck on the waiting list for the birth center and my insurance doesn't cover home. I still want to have a natural birth though but if something happens where I have to get a c-section i guess I will =( I really really don't want to have a c-section though!!!! REALLY REALLY lol

I want a natural birth, if I had to get a c-section, it would suck but whatever if I have no choice. I don't like when people choose to have c-sections just because they don't want the pain or stretching down there. You should be able to choose but why would you opt for an operation? the recovery is worse and you could have complications

I'd love to have a natural birth but, I tried for 14 hours with my son and I know know that my body cannot handle child birth with out drugs. I'd never schedule a c-section just because I can. I really don't understand why doctors are even considering woman for scheduled c-sections w/out a real reason.

I saw a tv show (baby story or something) where a woman decided to have one because "you can hide a scar better than you can repair your whoo ha" That really pissed me off. Who cares about your whoo ha when it comes to the well being of your baby????

Oh I know! Makes no sense to me at all. "I'd rather have major abdominal surgery so my stuff doesn't get stretched out." Give me a break. I mean I understand that at times it is better for the Mommy and Baby to go with a c-section, and I admire anyone who has had one for that reason. But to do it with no medical reason just blows my mind.

I know I'm going on my 4th, my first 3 all vaginally, and I've had no problems in that area. In fact my hubby says it feels tighter the first time after. Probably because we haven't gotten any in a few weeks, lol.

I think it is solely up to the person. Everyone should have choices. It is giving birth either way. The both of them hurt and have healing times after. It just depends on the person really. C-sections are a lot better now, my grandmother had to have a c-section with a verticle cut and her scar looks terrible. She said she had to lay there for days hurting while women that had their children vaginally were up the next day, walking around and eating whatever they wanted. But I think c-sections are and should be a personal choice, and I don't think people should be judged for choosing a c-section for whatever reason. I think most women when it comes time, read more and do more research and decide against a c-section for vaginal or cosmetic regions. Me, I don't mind either one. Whichever one that I need I'll do and not complain. If I have to have a c-section I have enough family around to help with the baby and help me if I need a lot of down time.

I am hoping for natural because the recovery time is alot less than from c-section. My sister also had her c-section cut open up after she went home and that just freaked me out
