epi (LONG)

Ok so i thought id TRY and do it naturally without drugs but my epideral totally messed up, which caused me to have a fever and my daughters heart rate to go up and me to stop dialating..
I didnt know at the time that it had something to do with the epideral until a month later when i read about it and those were the risks exactly..the thing is i was over due by 8 DAYS..and when she was finally born (csection) the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck twice so i hate to think what would have happened if the epidural hadnt messed up and if i hadnt gotten the csection.
& by messed up i mean messed..it was horrible  i was numb up to my neck so my chest felt numb and my hands were tingling..it was SCARY! i hated it..
Im sixteen but i was 15 when my daughter was born
Hannah Rose was born on Oct.12 weighing 8lbs 13oz 53.5 which is 21"?
She was fine..healthy..they took her straight to NICU though.

They thought she had an infection or something of some sort because her heart rate went up and I had a fever when i was in labour, so they gave her antibiotics 3 times a day for 2 days...she was in NICU for the first night the second night she roomed in with me...the nurses told me she was the biggest baby there  

We spent 5 nights in the hospital (Hannah was able to leave the second day but i wasnt)

I decided to get an epideral last minute about 12 hrs into labor i hadn't planned on one..so i asked for one and they told me the anesthesiologist would not be down for another 2 hours so i ALMOST changed my mind when he walked in a few minutes later..
I had this feeling something wasnt right thesecond the needle went in.

I also breastfeed shes 4 months now i didn't find it hard at all even after acsection..when she was in NICU they took me to feed her every four hours but we had to wake her to eat she didnt cry as much or wasnt as alert b.c of the drugs.
I worried alot but after my milk came in she cried alot morebecause she got gassy  

I thought Id share this, I've been wanting to but i wasnt looking forward to writing it.. 

thats what scares me about the Epi but then I think to myself no matter what the lord is watching over me so I try not to worry!
I can't imagine how worried you was!

Wow I am glad everything turned out ok. My epi went normally and was my lifesaver! I have a huge admiration for women who go all natural and don't use drugs. Thanks for the warning though and I hope nothing like that happens with my second baby.

Well congrats that she is well and you too! I had a terriable time with my spinal block for my c section so i know how you feel. They actually put a whole in my spine while injecting the needle and it gave me migraines for a long time. Needless to say I had to be given morphine instead and they over dosed me and it was a nightmare! Literally! Now I am terrified because I have to have another c section. I'm thinking WTF is going to happen with that hole when they go to inject me this time? I'm happy to hear that everything went good for you though. It takes a little of my fear away...

hotmama87: you are lucky   my mom didnt use drugs at all for her first three but she needed something with my sister it wasnt an epideral though,I wish i could have done it.

PrincessSara: thanks i hope every thing goes well for u next time..they kept me in the hospital an extra few days because of the migranes..but our babies are worth it 

My epi didnt work.. my water broke around 5 pm and I asked for it at like 2 am didnt get it untill like 2:30 or later, and by 3 am they took it out because the doctor didnt want me pushing with it , then at 3:26 am my daughter was born, and her temperature was low, so i didnt get to hold her untill she was warmed up, which took a while!!... glad ur ok though!

Thanks, aw i would have been so scared not being able to see her right away...so it didnt work at all?

Well I was looking at her, but it seemed so far from me!!! she was in the little incubator things under the lights, ... and it worked a little, but i was still feeling pressure and the contractions, it wasput in like at the very end, so i felt i did it naturally lol and i feltwhen i got the episiotomy... yuck lol..

too late?..aw.that HAD to hurt im glad i had a csection for my daughter even though i wanted natural..but that sounds scary

Oh god it was... I took it like a man lol.. I was the only one on the floor who wasnt screaming. And i was the youngest and a first time mom, and there were older ladies who had gone through it before... I felt so special hehe... and the episiotomy was bad... It hurt like hell for a long time... it was just eaaaa ... love ur babys smile by the way!!

omg, thats quite a story.. mine went normally except he couldnt get it in my spine and stuck me 13 different times.. but at that point, it was like accupuncture.. it took my mind off my labor pains. OH btw yeah that happens sometimes.. its called epidural fever.. but just think of it this way thatnk god for that... the situation could have turned really dangerous if it had not been for the epi fever
