maternity leave ?

posted 12th Feb
i was wondering when you working ladies went on maternity leave. I work at a Dicks Wings Express (small resturant) for my (evil) mother-in-law. I made the mistake of asking when she went on maternity leave to have her kids and she told me she worked right up until she gave birth, and if I should do that too. Well Im sorry, but there is a BIG differnence in sitting in a chair all day doing office work and being on your feet taking orders! I dont wanna have my water break in the kitchen, dammit!

I worked two jobs throughout my pregnancy.

I quit my waitressing job at 8 1/2 months preggo.... I stopped my day job at 41 weeks pregnant when my boss refused to let me come in anymore.

I would talk to my doctor about it and together come up with a good date to leave work. Get the doctor to write that up and bring that to your MIL and then set that date as your last day unless complications come up and you have to leave earlier. She can't argue with it if it is from the doctor.

I have an office job and pretty much sit here all day in front of this damn computer. So I wont take off for maternity leave til my baby comes or if I have complications. Now if I had a job where I was constantly standing I would take off at mybe 8 months.

haha!

Well I didn't wanna do it that way but I was stubborn and determined to get some money saved up. People tip the heck out of an 8 months preggo woman! Plus my day job doesn't offer paid maternity leave.

I worked on my feet all day (doing hair) 6 days before Dane was born. Just take it easier than normal and you will be suprised what you can do. I did it while swollen like crazy and sometimes on heels! I was nuts! Also you want to save your maternity leave for after the baby is born. She's only required to let you have 12 weeks max.

also, this forum is for feedback about the site. You might want to post this isn pregnancy issues or some other part of the site.

I work in an office and I plan on hopefully knowing when to expect her so I can take at least a couple of days off before. I can only imagine how your poor feet must be feeling by now, my swell up every day! If you're on you feet a lot you may want to startcutting your hours at work here soon. And if I were you I would probably cut my hours a lot about 2 weeks before my due date. But of course it's totally up to you and how you're feeling. You may want to talk to your doctor and seewhat he recommends you do.

I worked right up to the day I had my daughter. Of course I just sit at a computer all day and I'm not on my feet. I wanted to save all my maternity leave for after the baby was born, so I could spend as much time with the baby as possible.

I used to work before I had my daughter too. I stopped working the week before my due date. Turned out, I was 11 days late. It was such a long wait. I was all excited at first but then got bored waiting!
