I'm not sure
but you can find a seat mirror for the backseat at like walmart.
You put it on the seat and you can keep an eye on the baby the entire drive. They are found in the baby section usually.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal but I'm not entirely up to date on all the laws.

extremely dangerous! i would not even consider that! please don't please please please do not do that.

it depends. the only time its legal is if the back seat is deemed unsafe. or there isnt a back seat like in a truck. at least thats what ive always read. and if you put the infant seat in the front, it cant have front side airbags because thats where a lot of the danger lies.

Im sure it is different for each state...if you have an airbag do not put the baby up there......best is to just leave baby in the back

My son sleeps in the car most of the way... I keep spare pacis up front with me and toys. So when he wakes up I can hand him a toy and/or paci to entertain him.
I wouldn't put your baby up front, it's just not safe. And planon making stops regardless, b/c little ones need them.

At the very least you need to be able to disable the passenger side air bag. Air bags are a good part of the reason that you are not suposed to put your infant in the front seat. So even if it is legal, which I'm not sure it is, I would not put your child in the front if you have an airbag that can't be disabled. Better to have him cry a bit than risk it.

Here in Indiana you can put your baby in the front seat only if there are no passenger airbags. They say as long as there are no passenger airbags then it's just as safe as the back seat. I would call your local police department & ask them the laws in your state. That's where I found out all my information & they even installed my car seat for me & gave me a brand new convertiable car seat for a $20 donation.

South Carolina’s child passenger restraint law requires that:
- Children from birth to 1 year old, or who weigh less than 20 pounds, must be secured in a rear-facing child safety seat.
- Children 1 through 5 years old weighing 20 to 40 pounds must be restrained in a forward-facing child seat.
- Children 1 through 5 years old weighing 40 to 80 pounds must be secured in a belt-positioning booster seat.
- Children under the age of 6 are not required to be in booster seats if they weigh more than 80 pounds or if they can sit with their backs against the car's seat and bend their legs over the seat edge without slouching.
- Children under 6 may not sit in the front passenger seat. However, this restriction does not apply if the vehicle has no rear passenger seats or if all other rear passenger seats are occupied by children less than 6 years old.
- Violators are subject to a $150 fine. This law does not apply to taxis, church, school and day care buses, or commercial vehicles

Don't do it. Reguardless of the law. Your babies safety is more important than having to make several stops.

thanks for the suggestions ladies...i think iam just gonna keep him in the back seat,i trust my driving but not every one else, and if i need to stop than so be it,i have two infant mirrors in the car already, but there useless, i made this trip before with out him and i need alot of stops , so this time i allowed for 3 extra stops ,my 9 hour drive is gonna take 12-13,lol wish i had the money to fly, but we planned a trip to disney this week also so no extra $$ to fly ....

Yeah I think its legal here if you have no air bags in the front or they are disabled but I know it is still not recommended. Like DanYaY said I usually just keep extra stuff in the front seat. And I gaurentee regardless you are going to have to stop occasionally whether the baby is up front or not.
We have taken 4 hour trips and Lily sleeps most of the time. I would guess you would only have to stop maybe 4 or 5 times which really isnt that bad.
