re: Refusing the Glucose Screening Test

taking the test really isn't as bad as it's made out to be. the drink i had was orange flavored and tasted like a mix between orange soda and squirt. as for the needles, just try not to look while they are taking the sample. it's real quick and relitively painless, and it's the best thing for your baby.

I didnt want to take it, but I gulped down the two little cups of uncarbonated fruit punch. It's not that bad, and I really am afraid of needles..but get use to all this stuff because once you get into the hospital they are like pricking you with all these needles the have to keep getting blood work from you. As for the drink...drink it fast..but not too fast. I am usually very hyper, and actually drank a soda and ate some candy before the test..but erm well that was a bad ideo because the drink is like pure sugar lol...and it made me sooo hyper that I crashed..and crashed hard. I was all nautious and stuff but I hung in there...because if you dont, you have to take the 3 hour one

It is required. You could have gestational diabetes and that can harm your unborn child.
It can cause many health problems for you and baby.

Right now I weigh 125 or 126, my scale isn't that clear. I haven't gained very much, but I'll probably start packing it on soon.

I had just brushed my teeth before I went in, so all I got was the gross toothpaste/bubbly taste.. With a slight hint of lemon. hahah.

I'm not afraid of needles, injections are just fine, I don't mind drinking surgary things, having my blood drawn makes me have panic attacks and I don't like it. All you wanna be Dr's can keep the "Its not for you, its for your baby" comments to yourself. The only side effect do this that I can see is that you come out with a 10 lb baby. Has anyone passed on the test?

Yeah.  No drink, with the exception of water, is good after you brush your teeth anyways.

Mmm, that probably was tasty then.. I only had the option of orange or lemon lime, and everyone told me the orange one would make me die.. So I took the other option. Hehe.

I could just imagine people walking back into the lab place asking for seconds.. 'Hey, um, I think I want to buy a 6 pack to take home to the hubby.. Would that be okay??'

mine tasted like orange soda... only syrupier lol.. it was good... they give it to you nice and cold.. and you could drink water with it.. the blood withdrawal isnt that bad,. i dont think you can skip it... and you shouldnt. better to be safe than sorry

Hahah, why are you getting upset about this? Its the truth. Skip the test if you want, but I think I would rather have a little blood drawn than to have my tummy cut open to get my 10lb baby out.

That is not the only thing that can go wrong with you if you have it. And no doctor would let you pass it.

thats was kinda rude considering no one is really being mean to you. but now to my real comment, i passed the test. && im from NC as well, what part are you from?
