Alayna's update =]

Well today her doctor changed.. I talked to her for a little while and got good news. They are taking her off caffeine because she says that is what is causing her reflux. They are going to keep her until Thursday and Wednesday night we room in for Care-By-Parent. Hopefully that will work out! She is kinda constipated from the rice they put in her formula.. I may have to give her depositorys, which won't be fun. I would rather do that and have her home though! She is still going home on the monitor because she has been having a brady a day, but they are self-recovered! YAY! Just pray that this is the real thing this time. Oh, they couldn't find her heart murmur sound this morning either! That is what I was really worried about and they said it is healing itself. It is almost gone.

For those of you who don't know, she was supposed to come home last Saturday. Friday we were supposed to room in. Friday she decided she didn't want to come home and she had 21 bradys and some apneas. She never had that many! It was out of nowhere! So, I am praying Thursday is the real thing! They figured out it was her reflux causing the bradys on Friday. They put rice in her milk and she has only had 2 bradys since! Now hopefully them taking her off caffeine will stop the reflux and we can take the rice from her formula =] Just keep praying! We have been here for a month and a week exactly today. It feels like 6 months.. the days go by so slow! Thank God we got the blessing of the Ronald McDonald House and get to stay right across the road from her. Give them your change when your at McDonald's! They are wonderful!

aww great!! i am so happy for you ....you must be a very brave person to go through this all i dont think i would be able to handle it! my baby was on an apnea monitor and it helped a lot during the night for me mostly to not worry about her at night....good luck!

Those days do go by slowly, I feel for you. My daughter was in for 39 days and my son for 34 days. It sounds like you're right around there. Every last one of those days was agonizing, but now that they are over I barely remember them! (other than the fact that I hated them!) I hope you get home soon - the worrying is worse than ever but it's great once they are finally home =)

Thank you ladies! She has been in here for 39 days as of today. It has been hard, but I look at things from a whole new perspective! I never knew how many babies were premature until now! NICU mommies are strong! I respect every single one of them!

james and i were going to take a foster child that was in the nicu he had a disease called pierrie robin syndrome and he had a trach and a g tube ..i was so afraid to even touch him and then before we could take him home we had to learn to change his trach tube and stuff and it was very stressful seeing as i had just had ally and she was 2 months old and had a 4 year old foster kid already..i guess that the doctors felt my stress and made the decison for me not to bring him home and to find a special needs home for him.....which i was so greatful for i couldnt say no ....his name was bronson and i will always have a special place in my heart for him..

i respect foster parents! that would be very hard, especially with a 2month old! you are a strong mommy!
